They wanted to do the right things but went about it the wrong way. Introduced in Uncanny X-Men (Vol. 2) #1 (2011) by Kieron Gillen and Carlos Pacheco, after the X-men spilt into two division with one following Wolverine and the rest staying with Cyclops, Cyclops formed a team with the goal of preserving and saving mutantkind. He recruited Emma Frost, Namor, Magneto, Storm, Danger, Hope Summers, Colossus (the Juggernaut) and Magik. They were involved in many mission to take out villains that would cause harm to mutantkind like Mr. Sinister. It was later revealed that Psylocke working with the team as a recon specialist.

When the Phoenix was on an approach with Earth in search of Hope, the team clashed with the Avengers over the girl’s safety. While on the Blue Area of the Moon, Iron Man manage to break apart the Phoenix Force. However, five parts of it bonded with Cyclops, Emma, Colossus, Magik and Namor. After they lost their powers and Cyclops absorbed the full Phoenix and Dark Phoenix, he killed Prof. X but was defeated by the combine might of Scarlet Witch and Hope Summer, who bonded with the Phoenix and seek it back into space. Cyclops and Emma were arrested while the rest of the team went AWOL.

Magneto and Magik would eventually break Cyclops out and they went into hiding after rescuing Emma. They decided to form a Mutant rebellion group and fight against mutant injustice. They would later take Tempus and Triage under their wings and made a former Weapon X facility as their base. They then recruited Alchemy, Morph (Deeds) and Goldballs (later Eggs). They later went to Wolverine’s school to convict the rest of the X-men to join in their rebellion. However, only the Stepford Cuckoos and Angel from the past joined. After that they would recruit Hijack and after Battle of the Atoms, Shadowcat, along with the rest of the past X-men, young Cyclops, Beast, Marvel Girl and Iceman would join them with X-23 joining that team sortly after.

When SHIELD began targeting the team for crimes against humanity and it was discovered that it was Dark Beast’s doing, SHIELD Liason for Mutant Affairs, Dazzler, would quit her position after it was discovered that Mystique had taken her place, she joined Cyclops team in disgust. During Axis, Sunfire left the Uncanny X-men and joined the team and after it Havok then joined. When the will of Charles Xavier was read out, it was revealed that he left everything to Cyclops. Racked with guilt, Cyclops disbanded the team and turned himself in for Xavier’s death.
