The Steel giant with the artistic heart, Piotr Rasputin (westernized as Peter) is the X-men known as Colossus. Introduced Giant-Size X-men #1 (1974) by Len Wein and Dave Cockrum, Piotr was the Russian member of the international roster of the second team of X-men. Piotr was a farmer, when a tractor raced towards his sister, Illyana. Running to rescue her, his power awoke for the first time and slamming into the tractor. Prof. X recruited him to help him rescue the original X-men, after which he remained on the team for most of his career.

However he has left the team, usually with stuff involving Illyana. When she was presumed dead from the Legacy Virus, he left the team and joined up with Magneto’s Acolytes. Once Asteroid M was destroyed, he joined up with Britain’s Excalibur before returning to the X-men. It was after the Twelve story line, when Beast had discovered a cure for the Legacy Virus, that he sacrificed his life in order to release the cure in the air. He was resurrected and rejoined the team.

He has had a small number of figures over the years but he is a fan favorite character so he will more then likely get more.

Have

First Appearance / Classic

Recommend Figure:  Hasbro Marvel Legends 80th Anniversary 2-pack Colossus With Juggernaut

  • Background:
    • Colossus as he first appeared in GSX #1. He was actually drawn smaller and skinnier when he first appeared but as the year went on he has grown in height and weight. He was actually the youngest member of the team as well. This suit is one he always comes back to including the Jim Lee’s team.
  • Why you need it for your collection?:
    • If you are a Colossus fan and if you want to complete the Giant-Size X-men team as well as several other teams, like Jim Lee’s X-men team, then this is a figure for you.
  • Does it need a remake?:
    • No.

Astonishing X-men

Recommend Figure:  Toybiz X-men Classics Series 3 Super Strength Colossus

  • Background:
    • After years of being dead, Colossus was resurrected by the alien warlord Orm, who used his body to develop a mutant “cure”. He was eventually rescued by the Astonishing X-men, where he joined the team and restarted his relationship with Kitty Pryde.
  • Why you need it for your collection?:
    • A remake of the GSX version above, this was a nice update to the figure with a more modern take. I would say get it if you want to complete the Astonishing X-men team but otherwise being that it is rare and expensive to find, then it can be skipped.
  • Does it need a remake?:
    • No. While it is hard to find, it’s not worth taking up a much need space.

Utopia

Recommend Figure:  Hasbro Marvel Legends Warlock Wave Colossus

  • Background:
    • After the X-mansion was destroyed during the Messiah Complex, the X-men wound up in San Francisco, where they developed an artificial island dubbed Utopia. Many of the X-men gained new costumes. This is what Colossus worn until he became Colossnaut and is what is currently been used in many other media, like the game app Contest of Champions.
  • Why you need it for your collection?:
    • This is the most current version of Colossus figures out there. If you had to get one then I would definitely recommend this one as it is one of the best figure to date. Please note the beard head represents the Extraordinary X-men where he has a beard.
  • Does it need a remake?:
    • No. Just got released.

Needs

Below you will find a gallery of suits that still need to be made. I have included what I think are the possibilities of them being made. Note that these are my personal opinions and not fact. Please let me know if I have missed anything.
