Marvel’s and the world of comics’ first Anti-Hero, Namor the Sub-Mariner started life as part of Motion Picture Funnies Weekly in 1939. Created by Bill Everest, Namor is the son of an Atlantian princess and a human ship captain, Leonard McKenzie. He first came to fame when he attacked a US vessel, thinking they were attacking Atlantis, earning the wrath of the Original Human Torch, Jim Hammond. As the second World War loomed, he joined force with the Allies becoming part of the Original Invaders, with the Original Human Torch and Captain America. He disappeared after the war only to be found as a vagrant by Johnny Storm, the new and current Human Torch, who sent him back to the ocean where he regained his strength and attacked the surface.
He would go on to become a villain for a while before realizing that the surface world didn’t want to rule Atlantis. While he has been known to attack the surface, he only does so after they do something to his people. He has been a founding member of the Defenders also joining the Avengers, X-men and Illuminati.
He has had a few figures over the years with none really doing the character justice until the Walgreens Exclusive version and later the Black Panther wave version. He is one of the few characters that rarely changes his costumes only doing so when he is involved in a major story arc.
Have
Classic

Recommend Figure: Hasbro Marvel Legends Black Panther Wave Namor
- Background:
- This is the costume that Namor is most commonly known for. There has been some variants like when he has black or red trunk, but for the most part it usually remains the same.
- Why you need it for your collection?:
- For this I obviously recommend the more recent Black Panther wave one. Hell, even if you want to build Ronan the Accuser, I would tell you not to buy that one. The Black Panther wave version is miles better. This is the one you need in your collection as it is his most iconic outfit.
- Does it need a remake?:
- No. Just got updated.
Anti-Toxin

Recommend Figure: ToyBiz Marvel Legends Series 2 Namor the Sub-Mariner
- Background:
- When the toxins from the surface and underwater started to weaken Namor and dehydrate him, he took to wearing this outfit in order to retain his strength
- Why you need it for your collection?:
- All in all, whilenot as bad as the Ronan wave classic version, it is a bad figure. It’s not for everyone and this is a suit that has long been forgotten.
- Does it need a remake?:
- No. Like I said it is a long forgotten suit which was only created to sell the failing book.
Illuminati

Recommend Figure: Hasbro Marvel Legends Walgreens Exclusive Namor the Sub-Mariner
- Background:
- The most recent costume, this is the version that he is most often seen wearing in modern comics. First appearing with the Illuminati team, he has gone on to make it one of his signature costumes after the green trunks version.
- Why you need it for your collection?:
- If you want a more modern version of Namor and want to build the Illuminati properly, then you need this figure. Otherwise, the Green Trunks version is a better figure so see if you can get that figure instead
- Does it need a remake?:
- No this is a perfect figure.

Below you will find a gallery of suits that still need to be made. I have included what I think are the possibilities of them being made. Note that these are my personal opinions and not fact. Please let me know if I have missed anything.
