They are Stryfe’s personal army. Introduced in New Mutants #86 (1989) by Rob Liefeld and Louise Simonson, the MLF was founded by Stryfe in his effort to ruin Cable. It’s unknown how many member were part of the original team but when they first appeared the members included Wildside, Tempo, Reaper, Forearm, Strobe, Thumbelina and Zero. They were sent to rescue Rusty Collins (Firefist) and Skids from the Freedom Force. Even when Cable intervined, Rusty and Skids joined the team.

After Cable took over the New Mutants, they would interfere with Stryfe operations in Madripoor which saw members, Dragoness, Sumo and Kamikaze fighting the team. After the team broke up and some of them were sent to prison, they were rescued by Reignfire, who would lead the team by taking over Sunspot and later by himself. Locus and Moonstar would join the team, the later being undercover for SHIELD. Feral would defect to the MLF. Much later, Hope Summers led a team of MLF with Banshee. Much later, after the Fall of X, the MLF were reformed by Captain Krakoa (the evil Steve Rogers) who recruited Blob and Wildside. They would rescue the Fenris Twins (Andrea and Andreas Von Strucker).
