The longer he stay in the sun, the stronger he gets. Introduced in Marvel Graphic Novel #4 (1982) by Chris Claremont and Bob McLeod, Roberto’s powers manifested during a soccer game when he was abused by a racist player and defended himself. Donald Pierce sought to murder the young mutant and kidnapped Bobby’s girlfriend. Bobby, alongside, Xavier Karma and Psyche (Dani Moonstar), went to rescue her but in the ensuing battle, his girlfriend was shot protecting him. Bobby swore revenge against Pierce and agreed to join the New Mutants. He would remain on the team for most of it’s run, gaining a lifelong friendship with Cannonball.
He only left when Magneto took over and he read Xavier’s note on him, believing that Bobby could become a villain due to his arrogance. He would later turned to crime and joined the Vanisher’s Fallen Angels. He later returned to the New Mutants, only for the team to leave Magneto’s care and came under the care of the original X-factor. He left the team after his father died and was manipulated by Gideon. He was eventually rescued by the X-force and joined them after. After Cannonball left the team, he became close with Sam’s girlfriend Boom-Boom, which cause a strain in their friendship.
Shortly after his student visa was finished and he was deported, Bobby was tricked into joining the Hellfire Club, because his father was a member and Blackheart had revive his girlfriend. He later left at some point and became the head of Los Angeles X-Corporation branch. He would return to the X-Force to battle the Skornn. After M-Day, he became the Black King of the Hellfire club, where he was attack by a team of young X-men, who thought he had turned evil. It turns out that they had been tricked by Donald Pierce and Bobby and other New Mutants helped defeat him. They then took the team under their wings and trained them. He would later rejoin the New Mutants as an official X-men squad.
After AVX, Bobby and Sam grew tired of the X-men mutant agenda and agreed to join the Avengers. He would later completely buy-out AIM become their leader and re-branding the former terrorist group as Avenger Idea Mechanics. Bobby would lead this team of Avengers and later re-branded it again as USAvengers and changed his name to Citizen V. Some point around this time, he contracted M-pox, which he made people believe he had lost his power. Shortly after the battle between Grandmaster and the Challenger, Bobby left the Avengers and called himself Citizen X……………..before returning to the X-men as Sunspot, where he would died during the War of the Realms. He has since been revive by the Five.
Sunspot has had a few figure over the year but none for ML until now. Most people wanted the New Mutant version or one of the X-force figures. When Hasbro announced that they were making a second X-force wave, they announced that X-force Sunspot would be one of the figures.
X-force I

Recommend Figure: Hasbro Marvel Legends Deadpool Strong Guy Wave Sunspot
- Background:
- When Bobby joined the X-force, he gave himself a brand new costume. Not sure why he gave himself a mask when he turns jet black when he uses his powers.
- Why you need it for your collection?:
- If have been collecting the X-force members that Hasbro have been slowly making, then you will need this figure for the second team. Since we have no other version then this can also be used for a New Mutants and X-men display.
- Does it need a remake?:
- No.
