When Hydra took over the US, they needed their own Avengers. Introduced in Secret Empire #1 (2017) by Nick Spencer and Steve McNiven, after an alternate universe version of Captain America, who was a Hydra sleeper agent, took over SHIELD and essentially began a hostile take over of North America, he formed his own team of Avengers to protect their assets. Led by Superior Ock, this team consisted of Taskmaster, Black Ant, Deadpool (who believed this was the real Steve), Odinson (who needed help in freeing Jane Foster), Scarlet Witch (under the control of Chthon) and Vision (who was being controlled by a rogue AI.). Some of their missions included capturing the remnant fragments of Kobik (the living Cosmic Cube), attacking Atlantis and Ultronic Territory but they eventually lost the frag to the Underground. After trying to prevent Sunfire from being freed by New Tian, they were sent to attack the Mount, the Underground’s base, but Odinson allowed his friends to escape. In the final battle in Washington, the team would try to help but Odinson switched sides, Scarlet Witch was freed by Dr. Strange and Vision freed himself from the AI’s control. Taskmaster and Black Ant ran when they realise that Hydra was about to lose and Deadpool quit when he realised that this wasn’t the real Steve Rogers.
