He was sent to destroy them, but soon became the heart of the team. Introduced in Avengers #57 (1968) by Roy Thomas and John Buscema, Vision was created by Ultron and sent to attack the team. He first encountered Wasp, who accidentally gave him the name Vision. After encountering the rest of the team at the time, he switched sides and helped the Avengers track down Ultron and defeat him. The team later learnt that Vision’s mind was created using the brain patterns of Wonder Man and would later learn that his body was a temporal clone of the original Human Torch. After learning of his origins, the Avengers offered him a place on the team, which cause Vision to shed a tear in one of his most famous panels.

While on the team, he met and fell in love with the Scarlet Witch. He initially refused her advances as he feared of what the others would think with him being an android. However he soon accepted her love and was eventually married, with Immortus being adjudicator. However, due to a secret program that Ultron inserted into all his creations, Vision rebuilt Ultron but eventually helped defeat him. He eventually moved to San Francisco. During this time, the crystal in his head malfunctioned, which forced him to try and take over the world’s computers. He stopped himself but the government captured him and dismantled him. He was rebuilt but without Wonder Man’s mind. This and the lost of the children he had with Scarlet Witch, resulted in their divorce. They would try a number of times to get back together but it was never the same. The lost of the children would cause Scarlet Witch to go berserk and attack the Avengers, which resulted in Vision being killed by She-Hulk.

A younger version of him appeared but it was revealed that this wasn’t the same person. He would eventually rebuild himself and returned to the Avengers. After Age of Ultron, Hank Pym realised there was to many dangerous AI around the world, so he assembled a team to track down these AIs and destroy them with Avenger AI with Vision being the leader. He later joined the Uncanny Avengers when they went to Counter-Earth, where he learnt of Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver’s true origins. After Secret Wars, Vision created a family for himself and tried to live a normal life. But events saw his wife and son killed with his daughter, Vivian, being the only survivor alongside him. It was around this time he joined the All-New, All-Different Avengers. When Hydra took over the US, Vision was infected by a virus and forced to joined Hydra but was saved by Vivian.

Vision has always been a fan favourite for collectors, especially since his inclusion in the MCU. Toybiz release a classic version in series 7 of their ML with a clear Vision. When Hasbro moved ML to exclusives waves, Vision, classic again, was slotted into the Ares BAF wave. However when Hasbro relaunched the line, they release a good number of versions. First was the Avengers AI version in the MCU Hulkbuster wave. Then was the long sought after White Vision, in a exclusive box set with Hulk and Ultron. He then got another exclusive box set in his ANAD verion with Captain Falcon and Kate Bishop. Finally, as of writing this page, he has gotten his classic version redone again in thee Vintage line. Out of all the Avengers, he is the closest to having his wardrobe completed, with only his 90’s version left to be done.

Have

First Appearance / Classic

Recommend Figure: Hasbro Marvel Legends Vintage Wave 2 Vision

  • Background:
    • Not only does Vision use the Silver Age Human Torch’s body, he was also inspired by the Silver Age Vision. His classic costume was inspired by that guy’s costume and they also have similar, yet different, power sets. Like all Classic versions, this is the costume that Vision usually returns to.
  •  Why you need it for your collection?:
    • This is the version that I recommend getting if you want to have only one Vision as it is his classic version. It is needed for any Avengers collection.
  • Does it need a remake?:
    • No.

White

Recommend Figure: Hasbro Fan Channel Exclusive Marvel Legends Avengers Vintage – Vision

  • Background:
    • When Vision tried to take over the world by controlling all the computers, the government captured and dismantled Vision. He was rebuilt but Wonder Man refused to give his brain patterns to Vision, as he believed that Vision was more then Wonder man and his own person. Because of this, Vision had no emotions, which cause his body to lose all his color this white version.
  •  Why you need it for your collection?:
    • This is a classic and iconic version of Vision, that is needed for any Vision and 80’s Avengers collections. He has also returned to this version a number of times, usually when he turns evil.
  • Does it need a remake?:
    • No.

Avengers AI

Recommend Figure: Hasbro Marvel Legends Avengers: Age of Ultron Hulkbuster Wave Marvel Heroes Vision

  • Background:
    • After the Age Of Ultron, Hank Pym had Vision join and lead a new team that would track down rogue AI and destroy them if they proved dangerous. Vision wore this costume during that time.
  •  Why you need it for your collection?:
    • This is a nice design. However, none of the other members of the team have been made so it might not be worth getting. Get it to complete your Vision collection but otherwise can be skipped.
  • Does it need a remake?:
    • No.

All-New, All-Different

Recommend Figure: Hasbro Toy-R-Us Exclusive Marvel Legends Box set Vision with Sam Wilson’s Captain America and Kate Bishop

  • Background:
    • Slightly before the Secret War, Vision changed his costume into this. It is the costume he is currently wearing in the comics.
  •  Why you need it for your collection?:
    • This is actually a highly recommended version as not only does it add another costume for Vision, but it also adds a new member for the All-New, All-Different Avengers, which is complete, as well as the Uncanny Avengers version.
  • Does it need a remake?:
    • No.
