Even though she has been a hero for most of her career, she will always be most famous for nearly wiping out mutant-kind by muttering 3 words. Introduced in X-Men #4 by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, she and her brother were kidnapped by the High Evolutionary and experimented on. Disgusted with the results, he sent the twin back where they were given to the gypsy couple, the Maximoff. Believing themselves mutants, their power activated at a young age. When their father stole food to feed his family, the locals attacked the gypsy camp and Wanda used her power to try and save them. They were saved by Magneto who invited them to join his first Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. The two would battle the X-men but never felt that they were doing the right thing. When Magneto was taken by the Stranger, they left the team. They were later invited by Tony Stark to join the Avengers as redemption for the wrongs they had commit and because the founding member were leaving.

While her brother left the team on plenty of occasions, Scarlet Witch would remain with the Avengers for years, even being the second-in-command and leader. She would eventually come to believe that Magneto was her father (recently this was retconned to be untrue……………….for now.) After she was taken over by Chthon, she met and fell in love with Vision. The couple would eventually be married by Immortus and, using magic, manage to conceive 2 babies, Billy and Tommy. She would come under tutelage of Agatha Harkness. However, it would later be revealed that her children were part of Mephisto, who reabsorbed them. This plus Vision becoming an emotionless machine, caused Wanda to have a mental breakdown and lead to the couple breaking up. Agatha used her magic to erased her memories of the children.

While serving as a member of the West Coast them and later Force Work, she began a relationship with Wonder Man. After Wonder Man’s death and her returning to the Avengers, she used her magic and love for Simon to resurrect him. While she remained with the Avengers, she would eventually learn the truth of her children and had a mental breakdown, using her powers to cause a numder of attacks on the Avengers, leading to the team breaking out. She was taken by Magneto to Genosha to receive mental treatment but when Quicksilver learnt that the Avengers and X-men were meeting to discuss what to do with her, he made his sister create the House of M Universe. At the end of that arc, she learnt the truth and uttered her most famous phrase, “No More Mutants”. This cause the world to return to normal but erased over 90% of mutant kinds powers, killing many. She would disappear soon after.

Wanting to learn of their origins, Wiccan and Speed, the reincarnations of Wanda’s children, went to search for her. They found her in Latvaria, where she had no memories of her old life and was engaged to Doom. Her memories would return and they learnt that it was Doom’s fault that she had the breakdown. She refused an offer to rejoin the Avengers over guilt but would help the team during the AVX saga. When she was kidnapped by the Red Skull and learnt that he had stolen Xavier’s brain and powers, she joined the Uncanny Avengers. Turning evil in Axis, she used a spell that would cause anyone that share her blood to be caused harm against Magneto and Quicksilver. While Quicksilver was harmed Magneto was not, proving he wasn’t their father (again for now.) She would began a relationship with Brother Voodoo soon after. She was forced to join Hydra’s Avengers when she was taken over by Chthon. She has since become a teacher in Dr. Strange’s magic school.

As one of the core Avengers, Scarlet Witch has had a few figures over the years, including one infamous figure. During the Toybiz days, she receive a now notorious figure in the Riders series. This figure was extremely ugly and massively criticized by fans. Because of this, she was under produced and extremely limit, leading to her becoming overly priced in the secondary market. When Hasbro relaunched the line with the Infinity line, they made a new figure in their Odin wave which was a vast improvement. She would later get another figure as part of an Amazon Exclusive box set with Magneto and Quicksilver. This was called Family Matter ironically enough. (Hint Hint Marvel).
