Introduced in Amazing Fantasy #15 in August 1968 by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, Spider-man would only go onto to be one of the most famous character in Marvel but there official mascot.

Peter Parker was a ordinary high school student, who had a love of science and as a target for bully. That all changed when he visit a science expo and was bitten by a radioactive spider, which gave him spider like powers. At first using his power to try and get money by being a wrestler, his ego allowed a crook to slip by him.Return he learnt that his Uncle Ben was shot by a burglar. Wanting revenge he track down the criminal only to learn that it was the same person he left run away. After handing the crook over to the police, he took to the street using his uncle’s word be his guide. “With great power must come great responsibility”

As Marvel Mascot, Spidey has no shotage of figures. In fact he has the most figure then any other comic book character ever!!

Have

Civilian

Recommend Figure:  Hasbro Marvel Legends Spider-man Vintage wave – Peter Parker

  • Background:
    • Peter Parker was just an ordinary teenager until he gained his powers. After learning that Aunt May was struggling with the bills after Ben’s Death, he tried to find a job to help. He eventually discovered the Daily Bugle ad for pictures for Spider-man for money. He sent in picture that he took of himself in action as Spidey and sold them to the Bugle. J. Jonah Jameson hired him as a freelance photographer. As for the glasses, he used to wear them as a child but after he got his powers, his eyesight improved but he kept wearing them for Aunt May and the other head is based on artist’s design of him having a spider-sense activate during his civilian life.
  • Why you need it for your collection?:
    • If you are a Spider-man fan, then having a Peter Parker is a must. It can also be used as a civilian. As for anything else, it can really be skipped.
  • Does it need a remake?:
    • No.

First Appearance

Recommend Figure: Hasbro Fan Channel exclusive Marvel Legends Spider-man: Beyond Amazing 60th Anniversary – Amazing Fantasy Spider-man

  • Background:
    • This is the costume that Peter Parker wore in his very first story. Legend has it that he heard that the drama club were getting rid of some costumes so he snuck in and took one of their costumes, added webs and the rest is history. While it is not much different than the main costume, it has small differences like much smaller eye and a different spider logo.
  • Why you need it for your collection?:
    • It’s not absolutely essential but this is a First Appearance figure and it would look nice with other FA figure like FA Hulk and Iron Man. Of course this could just be my love of FA figures
  • Does it need a remake?:
    • No.

Classic

Recommend Figure: Hasbro Marvel Legends Hobgoblin wave – Spider-man OR Marvel Legends Vintage wave 1 Spider-man OR Spider-man Vintage Wave Spider-man Or Fan Channel Exclusive Spider-man: Beyond Amazing 60th Anniversary Renew Your Vows – Spider-man with Spinneret

  • Background:
    • This is the costume that Peter Parker always comes back to. This is how many people see Spider-man as. No matter what costume wears, fans will always force Marvel to return him to this costume. Even the recent ANAD costume is basically this version with a slightly new design.
  • Why you need it for your collection?:
    • ……………Are you kidding? If you don’t have a Classic Spider-man in your collection at this moment, then go out now and buy one. There is literally hundreds of them. So you have no excuse for not have it.
  • Does it need a remake?:
    • No. No. A thousand times no. Spider-man has had this costume done so many times it’s ridiculous.

Six-Armed

Recommend Figure: Hasbro Marvel Legends Kingpn wave – Six-Armed Spider-man

  • Background:
    • Peter had been having an extremely tough time. Harry was having a problem with drugs, Captain Stacy had died in his arms and Gwen blamed Spider-man for his death. Having enough of being Spider-man, Peter created a serum that he hoped would get rid of his powers. However, this instead mutated him into growing 4 extra arms. After a fighting Morbius for the first time, he was eventually cured. This storyline would be adapted into the Man-Spider storyline of the 90’s Cartoon.
  • Why you need it for your collection?:
    • It is a shame that the Spider-man with the most articulation is been blast for not having 2 important POA, the ab crunch and waist swivel. None the least this is a big part of Spider-man’s backstory that have been referenced to several times. It has been confirmed a number of times that there are Spider-men in the Spider-verse who retained these arms, like in the Spider-verse or the 90’s cartoon. Get this if you love Spider-man, want to build your Spider-verse characters or want to recreate the fight with Morbius and the Lizard.
  • Does it need a remake?:
    • Not really but others will say he needs those POA.

Symbiote / Black Suit

Recommend Figure: Hasbro Marvel Legends Sandman Wave Symbiote Spider-man OR ? Target Exclusive Kraven’s Last Hunt 2-pack Spider-man with Kraven OR Spider-man Vintage wave 2 – Symbiote Spider-man

  • Background:
    • The first major costume change Spider-man ever had. He got it during the first major company crossover, Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars. His costume was in tattered and seeing how a machine repaired costumes on other heroes, he tried the machine himself and it spat out a black orb. This orb quickly wrapped around him and the Black suited was revealed.  Peter believed that the design was influenced by the new Spider-woman (Julia Carpenter), who was introduced in the Secret Wars. Returning home, he soon discovered that the suit was a living creature and soon had to get rid of it. He soon wore a black cloth version until Venom first appeared and had to give it up because it frightens Mary-Jane.
  • Why you need it for your collection?:
    • For a Spider-man collection or if you are collecting a Spider-verse set, this one is an absolute essential. Even if it’s not, I definitely recommend getting a version of this. If you missed the Sandman wave or the Kraven’s Last Hunt 2-pack version, then you should wait for the Vintage.
  • Does it need a remake?:
    • No.

Bombastic Bag-Man

Recommend Figure: Hasbro Target Exclusive Marvel Legends Vintage – Bombastic Bag-Man

  • Background:
    • After Reed Richards had removed the Symbiote from Spider-man, Peter was left without any clothing. Johnny decided to prank the Web Head by giving him one of their old costumes and a paper bag for a mask. Spidey would wear this for a few panels before returning home to get one of his costumes.
  •  Why you need it for your collection?:
    • This is not an essential figure for many collectors but for Spider-man wardrobe builders, this is a most. It is one of his most iconic costumes as it has been featured many times in video games and other media. It will also be needed for a Spider-verse collection.
  • Does it need a remake?:
    • No.

Cosmic

Recommend Figure: Hasbro Marvel Legends Homecoming Wave Cosmic Spider-man

  • Background:
    • Peter Parker was the very first person to become Captain Universe. Saving a professor, Peter was blasted with some kind of beam and gained more awesome power. Good thing to cause he had to battle Magneto and later Tri-Sentinel. After defeating Tri-Sentinel he lost the power but soon became the first in a long line of heroes to gain the Enigma Force. Some included X-23, Hulk and a female Captain Universe who joined the Avengers.
  • Why you need it for your collection?:
    • While not essential, this is a nice addition to your Spider-man wardrobe collection. It also comes with a bearded Peter Parker head for your Spider-Verse collection and a generic male Captain Universe head if you want to get a new character instead.
  • Does it need a remake?:
    • No. It is a perfect figure as it is. Recommend buying 2 for 2 separate characters. 3 if you want to have one for your Spider-man wardrobe, 1 for your Spider-verse version and one for Captain Universe.

Armor MKI

Recommend Figure: Hasbro Marvel Legends Spider-man Vintage wave 2 – Armored MKI Spider-man

  • Background:
    • When a new team called the new Enforcers overpowered Spider-man. Peter had to create this suit to combat them. Basically it has armoured plate and scale mail, which was used to deflect bullets.
  • Why you need it for your collection?:
    • This is an iconic costume and was seen in both the 90’s cartoon and the Spider-verse. If you want to complete his wardrobe, you may need this but it’s not that important.
  • Does it need a remake?:
    • No.

Cyborg Spider-man

Recommend Figure:  Hasbro Target Exclusive Marvel Legends Spider-man Vintage – Cyborg Spider-man

  • Background:
    • ‘Twas the 90s. In the “Revenge of the Sinister Six”, Spider-man was attacked by Doc Ock and had his arm damaged. He woke up in lab and found that his arm had been “replaced” with a cyborg arm. He teamed up with Deathlok (Collins) to fight the Sinister Six, who revealed that his cyber arm was actually a cast to heal his arm. (Note: Though it is not called Cyborg Spider-man in the comics it is marketed as such for toys and video games.)
  • Why you need it for your collection?:
    • While not an essential figure for most people, if you want to complete Spider-man’s wardrobe, then you will need this. You will also need it for your Spider-verse collection as well as building the PS4 Spider-man costume collections. If you got the Toybiz Deathlok (not the Hasbro version), then you can get this to recreate the scenes where they team up.
  • Does it need a remake?:
    • No.

Spider-Hulk

Recommend Figure: Toybiz Amazing Spider-man Series 17 Spider-Hulk

  • Background:
    • As stupid as it sounds, this did happen in the comics. An old enemy of the F4 brother wanted revenge so he tried to get Hulk powers but instead Spidey got the power and become the Spider-hulk. Not just a toy for children. Well, not entirely.
  • Why you need it for your collection?:
    • While fun and a nice nod to fans, it can be skipped as it wasn’t even seen in the Spider-verse (could be wrong though)
  • Does it need a remake?:
    • No. Not a necessary figure. Try and see if can get it get online.

Unlimited

Recommend Figure: Toybiz Amazing Spider-man Series 14 Spin and Trap Spider-man

  • Background:
    • As part of promoting the Spider-man Unlimited Cartoon, Marvel had a short 2 issue run which saw that costume in that storyline. In it, we saw Spider-man venturing into the Negative Zone where he battle Blastaar and met the original Dusk character (who he would use as one of his Identities in the main universe). This is considered canon but is forgotten about.
  • Why you need it for your collection?:
    • Unless you have to have every Spider-man or another Spider-verse character, then I would recommend skipping this one as it was one of the Spider-man Classic figure with a stupid action feature.
  • Does it need a remake?:
    • Maybe if they did the other cartoon versions.

Negative Zone

Recommend Figure:  Hasbro Target Exclusive Marvel Legends Spider-man Retro- Negative Zone Spider-man

  • Background:
    • Before the Identity Crisis storyline, Spider-man found a portal to the Negative Zone had opened up on the streets of New York. Entering the portal, Spider-man found his costume had change it colors into a black and white version of his classic costume. He would soon encounter rebel fighting against Blastaar, who gave him the Dusk costume.
  • Why you need it for your collection?:
    • This one is really just for people who want to build and Complete Spider-man’s wardrobe or want another character for the Spider-verse. It was only a 1 issue costume and while it did make it’s way into the PS4 game (which was the reason we even got it), it is not essential.
  • Does it need a remake?:
    • No.

Iron Spider

Recommend Figure: Hasbro Fan Channel Exclusive Marvel Legends Spider-man: Beyond Amazing 60th Anniversary – Iron Spider

  • Background:
    • Properly the most controversial change in Spidey history. Peter had become close to Tony Stark, becoming his right hand man. Before the Civil War began he was presented this costume because Tony thought his classic costume was stupid. After he defected to Cap’s side, Peter went back to the Black suit before returning to the classic suit. This costume was later used by the Scarlet Spiders, a group of triplet clones.
  • Why you need it for your collection?:
    • Along with the Classic and Black Suit, I think this is one of the three main costumes that you need in your Spidey Collection. If you didn’t want to have another Peter Parker, you could use it as one of the Scarlet Spiders, since only one is still alive.
  • Does it need a remake?:
    • No. Just got remade.

Mr. Negative Corrupted

Recommend Figure:Hasbro Fan Channel Exclusive Marvel Legends Spider-man Retro – Web-man

  • Background:
    • Spider-man had been hearing about a new crimelord called Mr. Negative. However, his first encounter with the villain did not go as planned as Mr. Negative used his powers to corrupt Spider-man, inverting his colors of his costume. Negative begin using Spider-man against his enemies until Spider-man broke free of Negative’s control
  • Why you need it for your collection?:
    • This one is need for any Spider-man/Verse collectors. It can be used as a 616 version but I would recommend using it for Hasbro intended purpose of Web-man.
  • Does it need a remake?:
    • No.

Big-Time Spider-man

Recommend Figure:Hasbro Fan Channel Exclusive Marvel Legends 80th Anniversary – Big-Time Spider-man

  • Background:
    • Well Shartimus, it’s no longer a letdown. Thing were looking up for Peter. He had started working for Horizon Lab, had bought a big apartment and had unlimited funding for this science. So he created a number of different costumes, this one being one of them. It has the function of being able to hide from sight, sound and infrared as well has dampen them when they were used against Spider-man depending on the colour. This suit was later given to Kaine who changed it into his Scarlet Spider version.
  • Why you need it for your collection?:
    • Given how bad this figures paint is compare to the prototype and unless you have to have every Spider-man figure then I wouldn’t pick this up. Even though Hasbro has decided to give us a new version, I would say this get this if you want to complete your Spidey wardrobe, have another Spider-verse character or just want to replace the older one. Otherwise it can be skipped.
  • Does it need a remake?:
    • Just got remade so no.

Armor MKIII (Ends of Earth)

Recommend Figure:  Toybiz Marvel Legends Face-Off Series 2 First Appearance Punisher (2-pack with Jigsaw)

  • Background:
    • While working for Horizon Labs, Spidey kept encountering Doc Ock and his Sinister Six which led to him creating new costumes. When Doc Ock tricked the world into thinking he had created a new energy source but was instead going to destroy the world, Spidey combine all his previous suit into this version. It was later learnt that he was influenced by Doc Ock into creating this but with the help of Black Widow and Silver Sable, defeat the Sinister Six.
  • Why you need it for your collection?:
    • While this figure is based more on the Insomniac version of the suit it is very very close to the comic version. Get this if you want to build your Spider-closet, Spider-verse or want to recreate the storyline. Otherwise this can be skipped.
  • Does it need a remake?:
    • No.

Future Foundation

Recommend Figure: Hasbro Marvel Legends Armin Zola wave – Future Foundation Spider-man (Variant)

  • Background:
    • It was a dark time for the F4. Johnny had been “killed” and the team decided to disband the F4 to reform as the Future Foundation and according to Johnny’s will, he wanted Spider-man to take his place. The team were given new black and white costumes which this represents.
  • Why you need it for your collection?:
    • Now that Hasbro has gone back to making Fantastic Four, (depending on The Walgreen sales),we might be seeing more version of the F4 down the line. so the likelihood of us seeing a Future Foundation version is high, so you could get it for that.
  • Does it need a remake?:
    • No, but I wouldn’t mind seeing it on the Pizza Spidey.

Future Foundation (Stealth Mode)

Recommend Figure:  Hasbro Fan Channel Exclusive Marvel Legends Spider-man: Beyond Amazing 60th Anniversary – Future Foundation Spider-man (Stealth Suit)

  • Background:
    • Being made of unstable molecules, all of the Future Foundation suit could shift into a stealth mode in order to sneak up on villains.
  •  Why you need it for your collection?:
    • Unless Hasbro makes the rest of the FF in these colors, it can be skipped. Get it only if you have to have every Spider-man costume.
  • Does it need a remake?:
    • No.

Man-Spider

Recommend Figure: Toybiz Spider-man Classics Man-Spider

  • Background:
    • I know what you are going to say, “this was only invented for the cartoon!” and you be right except that it has been brought into the comics a good number of times, particularly even the Spider-Queen is involved.
  • Why you need it for your collection?:
    • The monster Man-Spider very rarely appears in the comic and is unlikely to have a major storyline based on it. Even if you like the 90’s cartoon, this figure doesn’t represent it. The one recommended is very rare these days so finding it would be hard. Recommend waiting until Hasbro does their version at some point.
  • Does it need a remake?:
    • Oh God yes! When I make a Spidey’s legend wave I always put Man-Spider as the BAF I want to be made. Of course I seem to be alone in this opinion.

All-New, All-Different / Parker Industries

Recommend Figure:Toy-R-Us Exclusive Marvel Legends 2-Pack Spider-man with Mary-Jane Watson

  • Background:
    • Peter has made Parker Industries into a huge company, making Spidey his official mascot and pretending he is his own bodyguard, having Hobby Brown (Prowler) stepping in as Spidey to make it seem that they are different people.
  • Why you need it for your collection?:
    • If you want to complete Spidey’s wardrobe, add another Spidey to your Spider-verse display or just want the latest version of every hero, then I recommend getting this.
  • Does it need a remake?:
    • It just came out so no.

Red Goblin Arc Symbiote Spider-man

Recommend Figure: Hasbro Marvel Legends Spider-man Kingpin Wave Black Suit Spider-man

  • Background:
    • When Norman Osborn combined with Carnage symbiote and became Red Goblin, Spider-man had a extremely tough time with him. Even with the help of his friends like Agent Anti-Venom and Venom, Eddy Brock offered to give Spider-man the Venom Symbiote in order to defeat Red Goblin. Instead of going with the classic version, we got this newer version of the Black Suited Spider-man.
  • Why you need it for your collection?:
    • This is another one of those suits that if you want to have every Spider-man you have to get this. If you buy the Red Goblin figure, then you will need this to recreate that fight. Spider-verse collector may need this, but otherwise it can be skipped.
  • Does it need a remake?:
    • No.

Needs

Below you will find a gallery of suit that still need to be made. I have include what I think are the possibilities of the suit been made. Note that these are my personal opinions and not fact. Please let me know if I have missed anything.
