If Venom is the piece of clothing you can’t get rid of, then the Carnage Symbiote is one you never wanted but have anyway. Introduced in Amazing Spider-Man #360 (1992) by David Michelinie and Chris Marrinan, The Carnage Symbiote is the “son” of the Venom symbiote. When Venom broke Eddie Brock out of prison, it left behind it’s offspring which bonded itself with the mass murderer Cletus Kasady, who shared a cell with Eddie. Kasady bonded with the symbiote greater than anyone, even considering themeselves as one compared to Venom who referred to Eddie and the symbiote as “we”. After escaping prison, Kasady went on a murderous rampage leaving behind a message “Carnage Rules” in blood. It took Spider-man having to team up with Venom in order to bring him down.
Kasady wasn’t the only person to bond with the Symbiote. John Jameson, J. Jonah Jameson’s son, was forced to bond with it while working at Ravencroft Institute for the Criminally Insane (imagine Marvel’s version of DC’s Arkham Asylum). During one of Carnage’s many break outs, he encountered Silver Surfer. This cause the symbiote to leave Kasady (nearly killing him) and bond with the Surfer to become the Carnage Cosmic but the Surfer forced the Symbiote to rebound with Kasady and froze the two. Both were seemingly killed by the Sentry during the Raft breakout that form the New Avengers but survived with Kasady having no leg.
The Symbiote eventually returned and bonded with Dr. Tanis Nieves, who forced her to help let Kasady escape but allowed the birth of the Symbiote’s second child in Scorn. After a fight with Kaine’s Scarlet Spider, Kasady was left catatonic. The Wizard wanting to use the symbiote, broke it out of prison and forced it to separate from Kasady with the help of Klaw. It tried to bond with the Wizard but Klaw prevented it from controlling him. The symbiote then bonded with Dr. Malus to create the Superior Carnage. They attacked New York City Hall but were defeated by Superior Spider-man. The Symbiote rebounded Kasady and later Dr. Jenner. Recently, Norman Osborn, wanting to regain his Goblin powers, managed to receive the symbiote and bonded with it to become the Red Goblin.
Carnage is a popular character in the Spider-man franchise, thus has gotten a few figures over the years, usually a repaint of an older figure. TB released one the their Spider-man Classic’s line (a few times) which was rereleased in the Fearsome Foes box set. Hasbro rerelease it again in their version of Classic line. Hasbro then did their own figure in their launch of the Spider-man sub-line of Marvel Legend and will be releasing an even better version in the Venom wave.
Have
Cletus Kasady

Recommend Figure: Hasbro Marvel Legends Venom Venompool Wave – Carnage
- Background:
- Cletus Kasady is Carnage. While Venom has been bonded with others, Carnage will always return to Kasady. They are bonded beyond any other pair and thus consider themselves one.
- Why you need it for your collection?:
- While not essential, this is a nice addition to any Spider-man villain collection. It will be nice to have in a Venom-verse collection as well as some other heroes rogue galleries. While the TB version, the Ultimate Green Goblin wave ones or the Monster Venom wave are extremely nice, I would recommend the Venompool wave version as it is extremely detailed and is one of his best figures yet.
- Does it need a remake?:
- No.
Ben Reilly

Recommend Figure:Hasbro Marvel Legends Absorbing Man Wave Ben Reilly Spider-man (Swappable parts)
- Background:
- Introduced in the 90’s Cartoon (where he was Peter) and later in the comic, when Ben was Spider-man, the Carnage Symbiote separated and escaped from Ravencroft Institute and began attacking people. Ben bonded with it to stop it and became Spider-Carnage.
- Why you need it for your collection?:
- While the toy is not 100% accurate (needs the veins on the arms and legs), it is a nice fun addition to the figure, that truly made it a figure worth getting. Like I said I recommend getting 2 just to have the 2 versions. Needed for your Spidey, Spider-verse, Scarlet Spider and Venom Verse.
- Does it need a remake?:
- No.
Norman Osborn

Recommend Figure:Hasbro Marvel Legends Spider-man Kingpin Wave Red Goblin
- Background:
- After Norman Osborn lost the Goblin serum powers, he tried to regain them by combining with the Carnage symbiote. He became the Red Goblin and it took the combine might of Spider-man and the Venom symbiote to stop him.
- Why you need it for your collection?:
- A fan requested figure, if you are a fan of the story, Green Goblin, getting the Spider-man or just want a new Symbiote, then this is a must. While it can be skipped, it is still a new figure and is the last character that Dan Slott worked on on Amazing Spider-man.
- Does it need a remake?:
- No.
