In the Ultimate Universe, Mutants are treated far worse then in the Prime universe, even by their own kind. Introduced in Ultimate X-Men #1 (2000) by Mark Millar and Adam Kubert, Charles Xavier created the X-men in an effort to safeguard mutantkind from persecution. Initially only having Cyclops and Marvel Girl as his first students and trained them to be the leader and second-in-command respectively. They would later recruit Beast, Storm and Colossus. On their first officially outing, they rescued and recruited Iceman from being attacked by government-sponsored Sentinels. Their next mission saw them rescuing Wolverine, who was captured by the government. However, this was a plan by Magneto to assassinate Xavier. Wolverine would betray Magneto when Wolverine fell in love with Jean Grey, causing Cyclops to leave the X-men and join the Brotherhood. Cyclops would rejoin the team after it was revealed that Magneto was controlling some Sentinels and sent them to attack humans.

However, despite many famous Prime members seen, it wouldn’t have been until Kitty Pryde (Shadowcat) that they received their first major recruit. The next recruits were Nightcrawler and Rogues, after Magneto returned and tried to destroy the destroy the Earth, even killing some of his supporters who disagreed with him. Angel was sent to the X-men because of his appearance and joined the team. After a brief run in the Academy of Tomorrow, Havok joined the team but immediately left. During the Tempest arc, saw Dazzler, a punk rocker in this universe, to join. We would later see our first Ultimate universe original member join as Elliot Boggs (Magician) would join the team but he would leave soon after. After the apparent death of Xavier, the team would later disband. However, Storm would form her own X-men team with Bishop and Pyro joining her. Along with Angel and Dazzler and later Wolverine, they would also recruit Psylocke into their team. After Xavier was revealed to be alive as Onslaught, a number of old members would join along with Toad and another original character, Syndicate. Over in the Ultimate Spider-man comic, Liz Allen was revealed to be this universe’s Firestar, following Iceman to join the team. This team would disband after the Ultimatum arc.

Much later, the team would reform under Kitty Pryde’s (now Shroud) leadership, with Iceman and Human Torch joining her. Their next new recruit was the son of Wolverine and former Runaway member, Jimmy Hudson. They would later recruited Blackheath (this universe’s equivalent of Plant man) into the team. During World War X, original character, Mach -Two and Husk would join and near the end they had recruited Magma, Armor, Warpath, Shola Inkosi (OC), Aleks (OC), Guardin (Derek Morgan, OC), Micromax, and Zero (Kenji Uedo). Pixie would join during Cataclym event. After the erasure of the Ultimate universe during the Incursions, nothing is know about what happened to this team once the universe was restored.
