Though they are known as the Marvel Knights, they were never given an official team name in universe. Introduced in Marvel Knights #1 (2000) by Chuck Dixon, Ed Barreto and Klaus Janson, this group was formed after they came together when Daredevil, Black Widow, Dagger, Shang-Chi and the Punisher stumbled the Rock Troll, Ulik, and his minions trying to invade Midgard through an abandon subway station under New York. They would defeat the troll and his minions but they wouldn’t officially become a team until Daredevil, the de facto leader, brought them together again to hunt down and bring Punisher to justice, recruiting Moon Knight to aid them in this endeavour. While they did get aid from Dr. Strange and Cloak, the only later recruit was Luke Cage. The team would break up after a battle with Shang-Chi’s father.
