When humans are turning into Mindless Ones, Coulson calls upon a group of Monsters. Introduced in S.H.I.E.L.D. (Vol. 3) #6 (2015) by Mark Waid and Paul Renaud, this new team of Howling Commandos were assembled by Phil Coulson when a mysterious plague was turning people into Mindless Ones, causing them to rampage. Coulson gathered beings with a lack of proper intelligence, as the plague was targeting those with higher intelligence and working its way down. They secured a beacon from the infected people and went to the Dark Dimension while SHIELD agents confronted Dormammu. They defeated him and returned home but the backlash of going through the portal caused the Commandoes to be flung into the Dark Dimension. Coulson has vowed to retrieve them as soon as they can.
