Long before Robert Kirkman was making Marvel a mint with its Marvel Zombies series, this guy was hobbling around the Marvel Universe. Introduced in Menace #5 (1953) by Stan Lee and Bill Everett and again in Tales of the Zombie #1 (1973) by Roy Thomas, Steve Gerber and John Buscema, Simon Garth was once a wealthy business man who abused his employee. His gardener, Gyps, vowed revenge against him. He kidnapped and killed Garth. Not satisfied with his death, he would go to a voodoo priest and asked for Garth to be resurrected as a zombie under his control, using an amulet. When he tried to kidnap Garth’s daughter, the now Zombie resisted and killed Gyps.

He would wonder the Earth for a bit. His wife would later sacrifice her life to brought Garth but from the dead for a short period of time. Garth sorted out his mortal affair before returning to the grave. However, he would later be brought back and under the control of Calypso to fight Spider-man. He would later come under the control Lilith, Dracula’s daughter, but was freed by Hannibal King and Spider-man. He recently joined Phil Coulson’s Howling Commandoes.

Out of all the figure in Toybiz’s Monster Box set, this was the most surprising inclusion as many people didn’t even know who this character was given his few appearances in the comics compare to the others.

Classic

Recommend Figure:  Toybiz Marvel Legends Monsters Box set –  Zombie with Dracula, Werewolf By Night and Frankenstein

  • Background:
    • Garth’s design is basically what people think of when they think of a generic Zombie.
  • Why you need it for your collection?:
    • This is a figure you may need for your Horror collection as well as for the Howling Commandoes. However, this box set is extremely hard to find. Out of the four figures in this set, I can almost guarantee that this is not getting a new figure.
  • Does it need a remake?:
    • Yes, but extremely unlikely it will be remade.

Needs

Below you will find a gallery of suits that still need to be made. I have included what I think are the possibilities of them being made. Note that these are my personal opinions and not fact. Please let me know if I have missed anything.

None at the moment.
