In this day and age of people posting stuff on the net that later proves to be false, you would think comic fans would learn from Eddie Brock and check their facts before posting. Introduced in Web of Spider-Man #18 as Eddy Brock and later in Amazing Spider-Man #299 as Venom by David Michelinie and Todd McFarlane, Eddy Brock was a journalist for the Daily Globe. He was contact by a man who claimed he was the killer Sin-Eater. The Globe had this published but Spider-man (alongside Daredevil) captured the real Sin-Eater and made this story false, as the man was a serial confessor. This started a downward spiral for Eddie, include his wife divorcing him and the paper firing him. He eventually found his way to a church where he planned to kill himself. However this was the same church that Spidey had thought he killed the symbiote. The Symbiote, sensing a kindred spirit, attached himself to Brock and became Venom.
Venom then started stalking Spidey, attacking his friends and terrifying Mary-Jane. The two fought and Spidey defeated him and sent him to prison. However, the symbiote helped him escape and they fought Spidey again, who defeated Venom and sent him to prison again. However, Spidey had to ask for Venom’s help after the arrival of Carnage. The two made an uneasy alliance with Venom leaving to San Francisco. There he became involved with taking down the Life Foundation, who took the symbiote and forced it to give birth to 5 of it’s children. He would eventually return to his villainous ways and even joined the Sinister Six in order to take down Spidey and Doc Ock but soon turned against them, which resulted in the eventual “death” of Sandman. However, Eddy, who had been battling cancer for years, realized that he had little time to live. In order to do something good in his life, he auctioned off the symbiote in order to use the money for charity. He then went to same church where he found the Symbiote and tried to commit suicide.
Mr. Negative, under his civilian guise of Martin Li, instead convince him to keep living and cured Eddie of his cancer. Eddie began working for Li in the FEAST shelter. One day, Mac Gargan, now using the Venom symbiote, attacked the center seeking Eddie. The Symbiote tried to reattach itself to Eddie but a part of it was still in Venom but was changed thanks for Mr. Negative. This change created the Anti-Venom symbiote which was toxic to Symbiote. Anti-Venom then went about being a vigilante. He eventually learnt that Li was Mr. Negative and teamed up with Spidey and Wraith to take him down. During the Spider Island arc, he learnt that he could “cure” the spider disease however he had to give up the suit in order for this to happen. After that, he started hunting down other Symbiotes eventually bonding with the Toxin symbiote and also began working for the FBI. They eventually split but he has since return to be bonded to the Venom Symbiote.
Like I said on the Klyntar page, there is no shortage of the Venom versions of Eddy Brock, usually done based on a number of Artists version. He would later get a Toxin version in the Ultimate Green Goblin wave as part of a running change for Carnage and then an Anti-Venom version as part of the Hobgoblin wave.
Have
Venom

Recommend Figure: Hasbro Marvel Legends Absorbing Man wave – Venom or Hasbro Marvel Legends Venom Monster Venom Wave Venom OR Fan Channel Exclusive Deluxe Venom OT Amazon Exclusive Venom Box set – Venom with Agony and Riot
- Background:
- This is Eddy Brock as he is most recognize as in his Venom costume. Like I have said it has been done differently by different artists over the years, including various size, from a well build man to a overly size monster.
- Why you need it for your collection?:
- This Venom is something that every Spider-man collectors need in their Spider-man’s Rogue Gallery, alongside Green Goblin and Doc Ock. While there have been a few versions of him, each have been done using version artists as a base. As for which one you should get, if you already have the Absorbing Man wave then the Venom wave might be a pass (or you could use that one for Pork Grind). Both come with a number of heads but the Venom wave one is on a slightly better build with an unmasked head (that looks to be too big). Either one will work fine in your collection. If you want him to be much bigger get the Fan Channel exclusive.
- Does it need a remake?:
- No.
Anti-Venom

Recommend Figure: Hasbro Marvel Legends Spider-man Hobgoblin wave – Anti-Toxin
- Background:
- When Eddy Brock had sold off the symbiote, he never realized that a piece of it had separated from the rest. When Mr. Negative used his reversal powers, he changed the way this piece works compared to the rest. When Mac Gargan, under orders from the Venom, attack the FEAST center, the piece protected Eddie and created a new symbiote known as Anti-Venom.
- Why you need it for your collection?:
- Anti-Venom was a big part of Spider-man modern tales and would be needed if Hasbro ever did a Mr. Negative or Wraith figure for their ML line. There is also supposed to be a new Anti-Venom running around but that has not been confirmed. I say get this for your Venom Verse collection (and Spidey collection) but other then that it could be skipped.
- Does it need a remake?:
- No.
Toxin

Recommend Figure: Hasbro Fan Channel Exclusive Marvel Legends Venom deluxe set – Toxin
- Background:
- After the Spider-Island arc, Eddy decided to destroy the various symbiotes out there. He started with Hybrid and Scream but when he attack Agent Venom, he was defeated. The Crime Master forced Eddie to bond with the Toxin symbiote and sent him to attack Agent Venom.
- Why you need it for your collection?:
- If you missed the Toybiz version of Pat Mulligan’s Toxin, then I would recommend getting this as great stand-in for him. He can also be used for just Toxin itself. You could get it for your Venom collection as well.
- Does it need a remake?:
- No.
Toxin

Recommend Figure: Hasbro Marvel Legends Amazing Spider-man 2 Ultimate Green Goblin wave – Toxin
- Background:
- After fighting Agent Venom, Flash convinced him to switch side. Brock returned to his lethal protector persona. He eventually went on to hunt down other Symbiotes for the FBI.
- Why you need it for your collection?:
- This figure was part of Hasbro failed attempt to bring out 2 separate version of the same wave, with 3 figure being different from the first batch. However, stores that didn’t sell most of the first version, mostly didn’t order anymore and most of the second version rarely made it out to stores. Despite all that, unless you have to have every symbiote and need another villain for your Spider/Venom verse, then this can be skipped as the figure is fairly ugly.
- Does it need a remake?:
- No.
Venom with Wings

Recommend Figure: Hasbro Fan Channel Exclusive Marvel Legends Spider-man: Beyond Amazing 60th Anniversary King in Black 2-pack – Venom with Knull
- Background:
- After an encounter with one of Knull’s Grendel dragons, Venom started displaying new powers, including wings similar to the dragon.
- Why you need it for your collection?:
- This will not be one many people will be getting but can be used as part of a Venomverse collection. Considering you can remove the wing it can also be used as a classic version.
- Does it need a remake?:
- No.
