He is the first child of Carnage. Introduced in Venom Vs. Carnage #2 (2014) by Peter Milligan and Clayton Crain, when Carnage crash landing in a part of New York, he began given births to a new Symbiote. Carnage then left this symbiote there and the police arrive and closed off the scene. One of the officers, Patrick Mulligan, was nearby when this new symbiote choose him as his host. Since every generation of Symbiote is stronger then the previous, Venom and Carnage teamed up to kill the newborn but with the help of Black Cat and Spider-man, Mulligan began working with the symbiote, calling themselves Toxin, since they were toxic to Venom and Carnage. Mulligan would leave his wife and child to protect them and became a new hero.

However years later, they were attacked by Blackheart who removed the symbiote from Mulligan and left him for death. The symbiote eventually found his way to Crime-master who forced Eddie Brock for bond with it as part of his Savage Six against Agent Venom. Brock would switch sides and would return to his lethal protector persona. Brock would eventually work with the FBI before giving the symbiote to Jubulile van Scotter to fuse with her own symbiote and Raze to battle a Darkhold empowered Carnage. All three symbiote were believed destroyed in the battle.

Toxin as a character is a rather popular character among comic fans but there are still people who don’t know him. He received a figure in the Toybiz Spider-man Classic line but that was just a repaint of a previous Venom figure. Hasbro would later release a Brock version in the relaunched Spider-man subline of Marvel Legends as a swap figure with Carnage. They would another Brock version as a Fan Channel exclusive to tie in with the Venom wave.

Mulligan (Monster form)

Recommend Figure:  Toybiz The Amazing Spider-man Series 19 – Toxin

  • Background:
    • When Patrick Mulligan was Toxin he had 2 forms which he would switch through when the mood suits him. This is the more bulkier monstrous form that he would take when he would lose control.
  • Why you need it for your collection?:
    • If you want a Pat Mulligan version of Toxin, then this is the only version you can get. You can also get this for your Venom’s Family collection. However, this is a very old figure so trying to find it nowadays would be hard.
  • Does it need a remake?:
    • Yes but not before the slimmer version.

Brock (Savage Six Version)

Recommend Figure:  Hasbro Fan Channel Exclusive Marvel Legends Venom deluxe set – Toxin

  • Background:
    • After the Spider-Island arc, Eddy decided to destroy the various symbiotes out there. He started with Hybrid and Scream but when he attack Agent Venom, he was defeated. The Crime Master forced Eddie to bond with the Toxin symbiote and sent him to attack Agent Venom.
  • Why you need it for your collection?:
    • If you missed the Toybiz version of Pat Mulligan’s Toxin, then I would recommend getting this as great stand-in for him. He can also be used for just Toxin itself. You could get it for your Venom collection as well.
  • Does it need a remake?:
    • No.

Brock (Lethal Protector Version)

Recommend Figure: Hasbro Marvel Legends Amazing Spider-man 2 Ultimate Green Goblin wave – Toxin

  • Background:
    • After fighting Agent Venom, Flash convinced him to switch side. Brock returned to his lethal protector persona. He eventually went on to hunt down other Symbiotes for the FBI.
  • Why you need it for your collection?:
    • This figure was part of Hasbro failed attempt to bring out 2 separate version of the same wave, with 3 figure being different from the first batch. However, stores that didn’t sell most of the first version, mostly didn’t order anymore and most of the second version rarely made it out to stores. Despite all that, unless you have to have every symbiote and need another villain for your Spider/Venom verse, then this can be skipped as the figure is fairly ugly.
  • Does it need a remake?:
    • No.
