Thanos went too far for this version of Silver Surfer. Introduced in Thanos Vol 2 #15 (2018) by Donny Cates and Geoff Shaw, this version of Silver Surfer was still the Herald of Galactus. They were being hunted down by King Thanos. Galactus sent Surfer away but Surfer would return to Galactus just as King Thanos killed him. Knowing he couldn’t beat King Thanos, Surfer went on a journey to become worthy of wielding Mjolnir. He was also turned his skin black by absorbing Black Matter. He would return to Earth, leading an army of the Annihilation Wave to attack King Thanos and the younger Prime Thanos. After battling the Cosmic Ghost Rider, he was attacked by the Hulk, which Thanos kept as a pet. Because he was his friend, Surfer let his guard down and was stabbed through the Hulk with the Twilight Sword by King Thanos. He was then killed by the 2 Thanos. 

Donny Cates’ run on Thanos is considered one of the best stories for the character, with many characters gaining a figure of some sort in Marvel Legends. As such, Hasbro repainted their Walgreen’s Silver Surfer and re-released it as another Walgreen’s exclusive, though they call it Silver Surfer even though he is called the Fallen One in the comic.

    • After the death of his master, Norrin went on a journey to become more powerful. He’s skin turned black after he absorbed Black Matter. (NOTE: This has nothing to do with the Silver Surfer: Black Storyline).
  • Why you need it for your collection?:
    • If you got the Cosmic Ghost Rider and are using the King Thanos head from the deluxe set, you may want this to recreate that storyline. All we really need Hulk and we got most of the characters from that universe. If you only collect 616 versions, then skip.
  • Does it need a remake?:
    • No.
