Even mercenaries have standards. Introduced in Daredevil #150 (1978) by Jim Shooter and Carmine Infantino, Paladin is a mercenary who has always at least tried to do the right thing……….for money of course. He was first seen tracking down Purple Man but battled DD in order to capture him. They eventually teamed up to fight some villains, who were under the control of Purple Man. He then teamed up with Wasp to battle Baron Brimstone, who he began a relationship with who, with the Avengers, battle the Masters. Wasp and himself later teamed up with Spider-man to battle some mobsters. He was hired by Silver Sable to investigate a conspiracy against her country with the help of Spider-man. He was then hired by Diamondback to fight the Serpent Society with Cap and his team.
He then got the help of Generation X to receive a sword from Emma Frost’s sister. He also remained under employment of Silver Sable, including a fight with Heroes For Hire and Misty Knight. He was later hired to killed the Punisher but failed and had his leg broken by US Agent. He then snipe Daredevil for the FBI for his record to be expunged. During the Civil War, he registered with the government and joined up with Misty Knight’s Heroes for Hire but betrayed them when they attempted to talk to Cap’s team. He was then placed in Osborn’s Thunderbolts where he became a moral compass for the team, developing a close friendship with Ant-man (O’Grady) but walked away during the Siege saga. He was given a pardon after this, due to him switching sides with Ant-Man. After reuniting with Misty Knight and Silver Sable during the Shadowland event, he became the only permanent member of the new Heroes for Hire, working directly under Misty to not only rescue her from Puppet Master but also bringing down Purple Man’s Villains for Hire.
Being such a little known character, the Deadpool / Sasquatch wave will probably be the only one we will ever have.

Heroes for Hire

Recommend Figure: Hasbro Marvel Legends Deadpool Sasquatch Wave Paladin
- Background:
- In the most recent Heroes for Hire series that Misty Knight set up, she worked as a central office that would contact various heroes for particular jobs. Paladin was the only person that was a permanent member, with the rest usually leaving after one mission. He figured out that this was all planned Puppet Master, who had kidnapped Misty to use against Purple Man’s team. He also developed feelings for her but it is currently unknown if they have been returned.
- Why you need it for your collection?:
- This might be a character that some won’t be overly excited for, but if you want to have another member for the Heroes for Hire then you can pick this up. Great to have next to Misty Knight until they release a Colleen Wing.
- Does it need a remake?:
- No. Just about to be release.
