He was written to be anti-establishment. Introduced in Marvel Boy (Vol. 2) #1 (2000) by Grant Morrison and J.G. Jones, Noh-Varr was part of a peace keeping crew. However, during one of their journeys, the crew was attack by a trio of God and became trapped traveling the multi-verse. They would eventually crash land on 616 Earth, killing all but Noh-Varr. He learnt that the crash was caused by Dr. Midas. Noh-Varr swore revenge against humanity and began a reign of terror. He would clash with SHIELD and would eventually be captured. He was sent to the Raft and later the Cube.
He was later sent after the Runways and Young Avengers but sent back to the Cube after. During the Secret Invasion, the Skrull that was impersonating Captain Mar-Vell caused a massive breakout of the Cube. Noh-Varr came across his dying body, who was inspired by Earth’s heroes and pleaded with Noh-Varr to protect Earth from the Skrull Invasion. He helped fight the Skrull and would return to his cell voluntarily. Norman Osborn would later recruit him to be part of his Avengers team as the team’s Captain Marvel. However, after sleeping with Moonstone, he learnt that all the members were criminals and left the team. He was hunted down by Sentry but managed to escape and find a Kree hidden base. After talking to the Supreme Intelligence, he was given a new Nega-Bands and became Protector.
After the fall of Osborn, he was invited to join the Avengers. He would remain with the Avengers until he betrayed the team in the AVX arc. He would remain close to Earth as where he would begin a brief relationship with Kate Bishop. He would join her as a new team of the Young Avengers formed but would leave the team after they defeated Mother. He would later offer his services to the Inhuman, helping them find the origins of their species on the Kree home world Hala. He would return to Earth and infiltrated the Masters by pretending to be Graviton but would blow his cover to save the West Coast Avengers. After aiding in preventing the invasion of the Cancerverse, he would join the GOTG by Nova and would begin a romance with Hercules.
Noh-Varr isn’t really well known outside comics fans. However, he would receive a figure as part of the Mini-Baf Hit-Monkey wave. He was supposed to also have a swap figure with the white suited Iron Fist but that didn’t make it out until it was eventually get released in the All-Father wave).
Protector

Recommend Figure: Hasbro Marvel Legends Hit Monkey Wave – Warriors of the Mind Protector
- Background:
- After finding out that the Dark Avengers were all villains, Noh-Varr escaped from the Avengers Tower. Trying to hide out, he was attacked by Sentry who was sent by Osborn to capture him. Noh escaped and happened upon a Kree hidden base. There he found a communicator that contacted the Supreme Intelligence, who gave him a pair of new Nega-Band which also gave him a new costume. The Intelligence also gave him his new codename of Protector. He would be in this costume when he joined the Avengers.
- Why you need it for your collection?:
- This is needed for quite a few collections. First is of course as part of the Avengers members. You can also use it as are part the Dark or Young Avengers teams but he wore his more classic version then. You could also use it in a cosmic collection as well as part of the GOTG. Finally, you can also use it as part of a Captain Marvel display, alongside other characters like Danvers and Mar-Vell, or just a Kree collection.
- Does it need a remake?:
- Not really but I wouldn’t say no to it.
