To him, this was his universe and we’re the invaders. Introduced in Venom (Vol. 4) #3 by Donny Cates and Ryan Stegman, the being that would become known as Knull existed in the abyss before the universe was created. He lived there peacefully until the Celestials and the God of Light began creating the stars, planets and life. This infuriated Knull, who used the darkness to create the All-Black Sword, the first Klyntar. He used this to slay one of the Celestial but cutting off his head. He was beaten back by the other Celestials and used the severed head of the Celestial (which would later become Knowhere) to forge his sword into a weapon as well as manifest a suit of armor. He created an artificial planet and began creating minions, like Mister E and others. However, his greatest success was the creation of the Klyntar. He would begin his reign of terror, battling many cosmic being, including Galactus and Ego and would use the Klyntar to take over other people. He would lose the All-Black during a battle against the army of the God of Light. He would eventually lose his control over the Klyntar hive mind which cause them to realize what they were doing was wrong. They all attacked him, piling their bodies on top of him. This would imprison him in millions of Klyntar beings that would become the Klyntar homeworld.

Bringing us to the modern era, Knull had sent 2 Grendal dragons to Earth, one was eventually found by SHIELD who used the symbiote for the latest Weapon Plus program but this fail. Decade later Venom would battle the second dragon, that was being remotely controlled by Knull and learnt the truth behind the Klyntar. A cult that worshipped Knull used a part of the Grendall to resurrect Kletus Cassidy. This would lead to the Absolute Carnage event, which saw Carnage gathering all the symbiotes and their codex. After a fierce battle, Venom killed Cassidy, which caused Knull to awaken. He destroyed his prison and began controlling all the Symbiotes. He would make his way to Earth, destroying or controlling many planets along the way. He would arrive on Earth, where all of Earth’s heroes battle him but could do truly little against him, including Thor, Sentry and Silver Surfer. He would go onto killed Brock and absorbed the Venom symbiote. Dylon Brock, Eddie’s son who had a connection to Knull, began using his powers to slow down Knull. After an adventure in the symbiote after life, Brock was brought back to life by the God of Light, which was revealed to be the Uni-Power. Brock was chosen to be the latest Captain Universe, sporting a cosmic version of his Venom costume. He would use these powers to fuse Thor’s Mjolnir and the Surfer’s board into a cosmic axe and would defeat Knull, killing the Abyss God.

Since his introduction and during the buildup to ‘King In Black’, Knull has easily become a fan favorite with many fan wanting Hasbro to make a figure of him. During Pulse-Con 2021, Dan Yun interview Donny Cates and surprised the creator by reveal that a Knull Marvel Legend.
