In an effort to recreate Weapon X’s greatest success, they create something that destroyed them. Introduced in X-23 #1 (2005) by Craig Kyle and Christopher Yost, The Facility is an offshoot of the Weapon Plus program, created for a similar purpose of creating super soldiers. However, unlike the Weapon Plus program, their design was simple, recreate Weapon X (Logan). To that end they produced Kimura, Predator X and 22 failed clones of Logan. But then Sarah Kinney came up with a new idea. She would impregnate herself with Logan’s DNA and give birth to the child. She would then raise it herself, given her the name Laura. But the Facility she was X-23, they would experiment on her, giving her a trigger scent to send her into a rage and gave her metal claws. She was put under the savage training of Kimura. She would eventually escape, killing many in her escape and witnessing the death of her mother. They would try to retrieve her several time until she allowed herself to be captured so she could destroy the Facility, triggering the scent and slattering everyone there.
