If there is one person who is considered the most dangerous treat to the Marvel Universe, it’s the Latverian Emperor, Dr. Victor Von Doom. Red Skull? He just a guy who can’t let go of the past. Thanos? He just was the girl he loves to notice him. Galatacus? Dudes just hungry. No the reason Doom is the most dangerous is that he knows he is dangerous.

A master of both science and magic, Dr. Doom was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby and first appeared in Fantastic Four #5, as an one off character. That right, Doom was only supposed to appear that one time but the fans loved his ego driven crusade. Being that he is the ruler of his own country, even if he attacked many heroes but of diplomatic immunity he can’t be arrested. He has battle almost every hero in the Marvel Universe and been the central villain for many major story arc, such as the Secret Wars.

As the main villain of the Marvel Universe, he has gotten quite a few figures over the year. His first Marvel Legends was part of the second series of the Toybiz run. This would see 2 re-releases in 2 Fantastic Four box sets. Hasbro would later make another one in the Fantastic Four Ronan wave which would see a re-release as part of the Epic Heroes wave with a White variant that only seems to be released in the UK. He would later get an Infamous Iron Man version as part of the Walgreen’s exclusive line. He would later get a classic remake in the Fantastic Four Super-Skrull wave. This figure would later get another release as a Fan Channel Exclusive with new paint and cloth goods to make it a First appearance version.

First Appearance (minus the cape)

Recommend Figure:  Hasbro Fan Channel exclusive Marvel Legends Fantastic Four Retro – Dr. Doom

  • Background:
    • When Doom first appearance, he wore something similar to a medieval surf costume. As he began appearing more and more, he quickly turned into the classic look below. He would return to this look a few times but mostly it is seen in flashbacks and origin stories.
  • Why you need it for your collection?:
    • Honestly this is one of those figures you get for the package or if you missed the older version. Unless you have to have every Doom figure, then this can be skipped. Though Get it for your First Appearance collection.
  • Does it need a remake?:
    • No.

Classic / Ruler

Recommend Figure: Hasbro Marvel Legends Fantastic Four ? wave Dr. Doom

  • Background:
    • When fans think of Doom they think of him as this. A king of his own country, Latvaria, he rose to power by killing the former ruler. Despite his tyrannical rule, he treats his people fairly, providing them with food and energy so that they never go hungry or cold. Thus his people would follow his ruling, all the while some people try and bring him down.
  • Why you need it for your collection?:
    • The one recommended is a repaint of the Fantastic Four wave/Ronan wave Dr. Doom, but this one has a better paint job. There was the Toybiz one but I find that way to short and skinny. Hasbro has recently announced an update to this version but it is currently unknown where or when it will be released. That being said this is needed for every collection as he has battled everybody.
  • Does it need a remake?:
    • No.

Avengers: Under Siege

Recommend Figure: Hasbro Marvel Legends the Avengers: Beyond Earth’s Mightiest Anniversary Line – Secret Wars Dr. Doom with Monica Rambeau

  • Background:
    • During the original Secret Wars, Doom would use his science to steal the Beyonder’s powers, using this suit to control the powers.
  • Why do you need it for your collection?
    • If you are a fan of Doom or want to recreate the scenes in the Secret Wars, you may want this to add to those. (Also recommended to use for Doombots
  • Does it need a remake?
    • No.

Future Foundation

Recommend Figure: Hasbro Marvel Legends Epic Heroes Dr. Doom (Variant, UK Exclusive?)

  • Background:
    • Doom had just returned to power, after being dead from another fight with the F4, resulting in the Thing’s death, when he was visited by Valeria, Sue and Reed’s daughter, who asked for help in fighting a Council of Reeds. They gather together many of the brightest mind in the world of villains for a plan to killed Reed. In this way they hoped to defeat the Council of Reeds. Since this was during the Future Foundation time, he took to wear white for quite a while.
  • Why you need it for your collection?:
    • As a UK Exclusive (which I find weird cause I never found it in Ireland),this one might be harder to get a hold of.
  • Does it need a remake?:
    • If they remake the Classic version then this one is a obvious repaint in a box set or something.

Emperor God Doom

Recommend Figure:  Hasbro Marvel Legends Super-Villain Xemnu – Dr. Doom

  • Background:
    • After killing the Beyonders and taking their powers, he used them to save as many worlds as he could by combining them into one planet known as Battleworld. He then became the god of the world as Emperor God Doom
  • Why you need it for your collection?:
    • If you want to recreate this series including the ripping of Thanos’ spine than you will need this. Otherwise can be skipped.
  • Does it need a remake?:
    • No.

Infamous Iron Man

Recommend Figure: Hasbro Walgreens Marvel Legends Infamous Iron Man

  • Background:
    • After being a God and being defeated in Secret Wars, Doom lost his throne. He began to try to reform. He approached Iron Man and tried to aid him. However, Stark tried to stay away from him and he was killed in Civil War II. Doom took this opportunity to right his wrong and became Iron Man himself. He had a good run by capturing many villains but when Stark returned, he gave up the mantle.
  • Why you need it for your collection?:
    • The Infamous Iron Man story was actually pretty good. However, many people would complain that they should have done a new Doom instead. Get this if you like the story line. Otherwise it can be skipped.
  • Does it need a remake?:
    • No.

Needs

Below you will find a gallery of suits that still need to be made. I have included what I think are the possibilities of them being made. Note that these are my personal opinions and not fact. Please let me know if I have missed anything.
