Following the impromptu formation of an Avengers team during Blood Hunt, Captain America decided to form a new rapid response team that would be sent immediately in an emergency. When Sin acquired the Erida mask, Cap brought Wasp, Photon and Shang-Chi, while the tardy Hawkeye waited in the mansion where he played poker with the later arrivals, Lightning, She-Hulk, Lightspeed, Hercules and Wonder man. By the time Cap and his team returned, Night Thrasher arrive and provided the team with team jackets with the Avengers logo on them. Following a few missions, including the Serpent Society and dealing with the fall out from Blood Hunt, Daredevil (Natchios) was recruited into the squad when a giant red Monolith appeared on Saten Island, bringing it to the attention of Tyrannus. Human Torch (Hammond) was later recruited after dealing with he Promethean Front and Basil Frankenstein III. Wanting to investigate the dimension in the Monolith, Night Thrasher recruited Mr. Immortal into the squad and sent him into the monolith with Hercules.
