Janet really needs to get a restraining order. Introduced in Tales to Astonish #50 (1963) by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, David Cannon is a mutant that used his abilities to bully kids and later as a petty criminal. Wanting to make a name for himself, he designed a costume and became the Human Top. He planned to rob a bank and encountered Giant Man and Wasp but managed to escape. They would battle again, and Giant man would defeat him. He was later seen interrupting Reed and Sue Richards’ wedding. He would eventually be sent to prison and was released soon after. He swore revenge against Giant -man and the Wasp and redesigned himself into Whirlwind.
It was around this time that he would use a fake name and became Wasp’s chauffeur. He would join the Crimson Cowl’s Masters of Evil, but they were defeated by the Avengers. He would join Batroc’s Brigade before rejoining the Masters. As Wasp’s chauffeur, he planned to gain all her money by trying to get her to marry him. Because she was already married to Pym, she refused his advances which led to him becoming obsessed with her. This led to him attacking the Avengers but was defeated by Pym and had his identity exposed. After a battle with the Vision, he joined the Lethal Legion for Nafaria but Nafaria drained his powers to give to himself. He would later join the criminal version of the Defenders before rejoining the Masters by Egghead before he would battle Iron Fist. After being rejected by Baron Zemo’s Masters when they planned to invade Avenger Mansion, he teamed up with Trapster to stop Cap from going to the mansion to help.
He later teamed up with Tiger Shark in San Fransico but was defeated by the West Coast team. In a battle with Iron Man, Bambi Arbogast distracted Whirlwind long enough for Iron man to defeated him. After a battle with the Daughters of the Dragon, he would be recruited and upgraded by Mandarin, but he later learnt that a bomb was implanted in his head. He worked together with Iron Man and other prisoners to stop the Mandarin. He would later join Spymaster to steal Iron Man’s armor but was betrayed by Spymaster. He was sent to Pleasant Hill but helped with the mass escape and he would go onto join Hood’s Illuminati. He would later begin working for Ant-Man Security Solution but left after Ant-man infiltrated Cross Industry. He would later work to AIM to stop Pymtron by kidnapping Wasp but was defeated by her instead. After rejoining the Lethal Legion, he was shot and resurrected by the Sin Eater and sent to Ravencroft but were later recruited by the Kindred twins to battle Spider-man.
Whirlwind is more known for being one of Mandarin’s minions from the 90’s cartoon. He would receive a figure as part of the Civil War Red Onslaught wave.
