A living armor became a hero. Introduced in Young Avengers #5 (2005) by Allan Heinberg and Jim Cheung, this version of Vision began life as the Neurokinetic Armor of Iron Lad. When a young Nathaniel Richard travelled back in time to try and seek aid from the Avengers to prevent himself from becoming Kang, he learnt that the Avengers had disbanded. He would find Vision’s destroyed body and downloaded his operation system into his armor. He used this to form the Young Avengers but after a while, Kang came to bring him back to his time and prevent the collapse of the timestream. Iron Lad removed the armor, allowing the Vision program to make the armor become sentient, using the Vision and Iron Lad’s brain pattern to create a new personality. After Kang’s defeat he was taken into Avengers custody until Hulkling was taken by the Super-Skrull, and the Young Avengers sought his aid to find more potential Young Avengers. He would join the Young Avengers and changed his appearance at the request of Cassie Lang.

After siding with Cap during the Civil War, he would soul searching journey to discover himself. He adopted the name Jonas to differentiate himself from the previous Vision and Iron Lad. He began a relationship with Cassie and the pair would remain on that team until they were teleported away by a spell caused by Scarlet Witch (Loki) and Hank Pym to form a new team of Mighty Avengers. They would split their times between the two teams until the Mighty Avengers disbanded (because Hank invited Loki to join the team). During the Children Crusade, they witnessed the return of Iron Lad as they searched for Scarlet Witch. In a confrontation between X-men, the Avengers and Dr. Doom, he witnessed the sacrifice of Cassie to stop Doom. Iron Lad suggested travelling back in time to prevent this but Jonas refused as it would corrupt the timeline. In a fit of rage, Iron Lad destroyed Vision. I honor of his heroics, Jonas was given a statue on the Avengers mansion gardens.
