She is the ultimate warrior of magically enhanced Cat People. Introduced in The Cat #1 (1972) by Linda Fite and Marie Severin, Greer Grant was a college dropout who married a cop. However, her husband was killed in action, dying in her arms. With no money or unable to get work, she agreed to become a lab assistant to Dr. Tumolo. However, Tumolo had no choice to to make a deal with a shady business man, Malcolm Donalbain. Donalbain made the professor create a superhuman for him, using Shirlee Byrant. The professor also experiment on Greer. When the Byrant died during her initial test, Donalbain had his men set the lab to explode. Believing Tumolo dead, Greer donned the Cat suit and thwarted Donalbain’s plan, but he commuted suicide. She would continue as the Cat for a very brief time, teaming up with Spider-man to hunt the Man-Killer.
Tumolo was then revealed to be a member of Cat People and on the run from Hydra. During an attack of Hydra, Greer was injured. To save her life, the Cat People transformed her into their greatest champion Tigra. Despite being able to changed forms, Greer would remain in Tigra form and began a long career as a crime fighter, teaming up with many heroes. She was one of the heroes forced to become a member of the Avengers under Moondragons mind control. However, despite proving herself a number of times, she resigned from the team and moved to San Francisco. There she befriend Jessica Drew. Soon after, Tigra was invited by Hawkeye to become a founding member of the West Coast team of the Avengers. She would begin a relationship with a few member of the team but this was mostly due to her cat like personality, which she was later cured of. She would remain on the team until the end of the Shi’Ar/Kree war.
She would later train as a police officer. During the Civil War, she would spy on Cap for Iron Man, which was used against them. It was also revealed that she had started a relationship with what she believed was Hank Pym. This turned out to be a Skrull imposter and she would become pregnant with his child. She would later become a teacher for Avengers Academy and began a real relationship with the real Hank Pym, who explained to her that her son had no Skrull DNA and that the imposter copied him down to the DNA. This made Tigra ask that if something happened to her, to look after her son. She would later join the female team of the Fearless Defenders.
She would later join the resistant against Hydra Cap and would later join the Avengers and other heroes in hunting down Punisher for his role in the Hydra’s rule as well as stealing War Machine’s armor. She was one of many women that was transformed into gigantic woman after they rejected BRODOK. They were sent on a rampage but were save by the latest West Coast Avengers. She later introduced her son to Nadia Pym, who is considered her son’s half sister. Nadia was delighted to met her younger brother which brought Tigra to tears.
Tigra has a bit of a messy history in Marvel Legends. She was originally part of the fourth regular was of Hasbro Marvel Legends, the Nemesis. This wave was even solicited for Pre-order but would keep getting pushing back and pre-orders cancelled. The wave remain in limbo until it was revealed as Walmart exclusive. However that was extremely hard to find. She wouldn’t get another figure for many years until the (yet unknown where) Tigra reveal from Hasbro.
Classic

Recommend Figure: Hasbro Fan Channel Exclusive Marvel Legends Vintage series – Tigra
- Background:
- This is Tigra as she usually appears. Like many furry characters, like Beast, she wears the bear minimum of clothing mostly due to the fact that it would be too hot if she wore more clothing over it. She opted for a bikini to help with this.
- Why you need it for your collection?:
- First let start off by saying NEVER get the Nemesis wave version, unless you can get it MOC for the BAF piece, as this is a bad figure. Get the more recent version with it’s better sculpt, colors and height. As for why you want it, this is for an Avengers collection, particularly if you want to complete the West Coast or Infinity teams. It can also be used for the Academy, Street Level heroes or if you want another member of Pym’s family.
- Does it need a remake?:
- No.

Below you will find a gallery of suits that still need to be made. I have included what I think are the possibilities of them being made. Note that these are my personal opinions and not fact. Please let me know if I have missed anything.
