She is what some writers thought being a feminist was during the 1970s. Introduced in Fantastic Four #129 (1972) by Roy Thomas and John Buscema, Thundra hails from a future where woman rule the world and men are either slaves or breeding stock. Children were bred in labs, where Thundra was genetically developed to be their strongest warriors. An invasion from alternate Earth where men became barbarians and the ruling class, cause Thundra to steal their dimensional apparatus to try and attack their Earth. However, the device malfunctioned, and she found herself in the 20th century of Earth-616.
The Wizard would approach her to join his Frightful Four and she engaged in combat with the F4. She would fight and even defeated the Thing, who she believed was the strongest man on Earth and beating him would prove that she was superior to him. Respecting him, she believed that this would lead to her future but soon learnt that wasn’t the case. She betrayed the Frightful Four and allied herself with the Thing. She would team up and aid the F4 throughout the years until she was dragged back to her home universe by Mahkizmo. The F4 followed her and her against the male warrior. They destroyed the dimensional device trapping the two worlds together. Thundra traveled back with the F4, thinking that the male world would ruin her world.
She was later tricked by Roxxon to lead the Grapplers into sneaking into Project: Pegasus to sabotage it. They were captured but released so they could find who their employers were. She would also become an ally of Hyperion and the Squadron Supreme. Learning the truth of Roxxon, she would use their machine to travel to her own world. She would become the leader of the United Sisterhood Empire but would come under attack from Arkon’s dimension. She sought the aid of the Avengers and F4, but they convinced her that she and Arkon had an attraction toward each other. They became lovers and brought peace between the two worlds. She would later travel back in time and fought the Hulk. However, this was a ruse to gain his DNA so she could bring it back to her world and combine it with her DNA. However, she was stranded in the past and helped She-Hulk and her Lady Liberators to fight the Red Hulk. She would eventually return to her world and allowed the scientist to create her child with Hulk’s DNA that would become Lyra. Both mother and daughter both traveled to Prime Earth.
Thundra is a little-known character. However, she would receive a figure as part of the Age of Ultron Hulkbuster wave, sharing the same packaging design with Valkyrie of the same wave.

Recommend Figure: Hasbro Marvel Legends Avengers: Age of Ultron Hulkbuster wave – Thundra
- Background:
- Thundra as she usually appears. Like all classic versions, different artists have drawn it differently.
- Why you need it for your collection?:
- This is one that is hard to place. If you do get her, she will either be part of a F4 or Hulk allies’ shelf or as a part of the Frightful Four or Lady Liberators. Other than that, it can be skipped.
- Does it need a remake?:
- No.
