It’s hard having a gifted older brother. Introduced Black Panther Vol 4 #2 (2005) by Reginald Hudlin and John Romita Jr, Shuri is the younger half-sister of T’Challa, a.k.a. Black Panther. Since she was young, she has always dreamed of becoming the Black Panther but was forbidden from entering the selection contest by her mother. She entered anything but was beaten by her brother. After she killed a Russian Radioactive Man during a Klaw evasion, she took this event hard and was comforted by T’Challa, who took to train her to take over for him in the event of him not being able to do his duties. This eventually happened during the Dark Reign, when T’Challa was comatose and she passed the trails.

When her brother woke up and began training to fight Dr. Doom, she became the queen of Wakanda. She was later overthrown by the Desturi and she, her brother, a few X-men and the Dora Milaje went to fight them and learnt that this coup was being planned by Doom. This lead to the Doomwars, which lead to Doom’s becoming bankrupt. She was believed killed by Proxima Midnight but was instead put in a state of suspended animation. She was later revive by her brother, but didn’t take back up the Black Panther mantle.

When Black Panther was confirmed to be getting a movie, we all wished and knew that Shuri would be one of the possible figures to be released. While she is a TRU exclusive , she is coming in a 2-pack with Klaw. They are also doing a MCU version that can be used for her most recent comic book version.

Black Panther

Recommend Figure: Hasbro Toy-R-US / Shared Exclusive Marvel Legends Black Panther 2-pack Shuri with Klaw

  • Background:
    • The Black Panther mantle has been passed on to not only kings but also queens over the years. So while she is the first female Black Panther to have a on-going comic, she is not the first female Black Panther. In fact there is said to have been over 13 queens who have taken the mantle.
  • Why you need it for your collection?:
    • I don’t think most people even know that BP had a sister (at least until the movie came out). While it is always nice to have a new character, if you are not a big fan of BP, then this can be skipped as she is only really for BP collections.
  • Does it need a remake?:
    • No.

Aja-Adanna (Kinda)

Recommend Figure: Hasbro Marvel Legends Avengers: Endgame Wave 2 Shuri

  • Background:
    • With the raise in her popularity after the movie, Marvel moved to give Shuri her own title. As such, they redesigned her to look similar to her MCU counterpart.
  • Why you need it for your collection?:
    • Yes this is a MCU figure but as you can see in the image next to the figure, she has started to wear a similar costume in the comics. If you want Shuri to be unique rather then just a female Black Panther, you can get this. Otherwise it can be skipped or used for her MCU version.
  • Does it need a remake?:
    • No.

Below you will find a gallery of suits that still need to be made. I have included what I think are the possibilities of them being made. Note that these are my personal opinions and not fact. Please let me know if I have missed anything.
