Jonah really need to stop hiring villains. Introduced in Amazing Spider-Man #141 by Gerry Conway and Ross Andru, Daniel Berkhart was hired by J. Jonah Jaemson to hunt and torment Spider-man, pretending to be the ghost the then thought dead Quetin Beck. When this planned was foiled, Jameson abandon him and Berkhart was sent to jail. He would swear vegence against Jameson. After Norman Osborn returned, Daniel took on the persona of Mad Jack (Jack O’Lantern) and attacked Jameson. He forced Jameson to sell the Bugle to Obsorn. When Osborn offer him money, he refused, saying it was his pleasure to torment Jameson.

It was later revealed that he was working with Maguire Beck, Quentin’s cousin. They would swap place as Mad Jack and torment Spider-man and Jameson for a while. He later faked his death after fighting Prodigy, one of Spidey’s disguises. He would later take up the mantle of Mysterio after Quentin killed himself after a fight with Daredevil and he would team up with Maguire, now Jack O’Lantern, to torment Spidey, Daredevil and others. He would sell a Mysterio costume to the Kingpin and he sold it to Francis Klum. He would fight Klum for the mantle of Mysterio until it was revealed that Quentin had been revived. It was later revealed that he may have been killed by one of the other people to be Jack O’Lantern.

While we haven’t gotten an figure marketed as Berkhart, the Mysterio with the green gloves and boots and the classic Jack O’Lantern can be used as him.

Mysterio I

Recommend Figure: Hasbro Marvel Legends Spider-man’s Lizard wave – Mysterio

  • Background:
    • When he was hired by Jameson, he was given a copy of Mysterio’s suit, who was behind to have died in a battle with Spider-man. He would taunt Spidey, making him believe he was Quintin’s ghost back for revenge. The rused was exposed and Berkhart was sent to jail.
  • Why do you need it for your collection?
    • Obviously you probably won’t be using this for Berkhart but Quintin instead. HOWEVER, if you got both versions of the figures (this and the yellow one), you can use the yellow one as Beck (or Klum if you want) and this one as Berkhart.
  • Does it need a remake?
    • No.

Mad Jack

Recommend Figure: Hasbro Marvel Legends Spider-man Vintage Wave 4- Jack O’Lantern

  • Background:
    • After being released from prison, Berkhart began working on his revenge against Jameson. He would team up with Beck’s cousin, Maguire, and using her tech, they became Mad Jack, with each of them wearing the costume when needed. Berkhart would give up the mantle to Maguira and would become the successor to Quintin’s Mysterio.
  • Why do you need it for your collection?
    • Given that there has been so many people who have been Jack O’Lantern, you can easily use this as Berkhart if you so please.
  • Does it need a remake?
    • No.
