You know for the smartest person on the planet, Reed Richard make some really stupid decisions. Take for example how he got his powers. As shown in Fantastic Four #1 (1961) by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby (the official start of the Marvel Comics, after Timely and Altas), Dr. Reed Richard was a space scientist who built a space ship to be the first person on the moon (this was before Apollo 11) but the government cut the funding and took his ship. Reed asked his astronaut friend Ben Grimm, this normal fiance Sue Storm and her brother Johnny (who by the way was only 15 at the time!) to sneak into the base and launch the rocket with them as the crew. After reaching space, he notice that the space didn’t have proper shielding for radiation in space. Crashing landing back on Earth, they found themselves with new power. Of course feeling guilty, Reed worked to make sure his family were not seen as freak and could live a normal life by getting them to use their power as heroes.
For many years, Reed as been the one that heroes would go to to solve some scientific problem like when Spidey went to him to get rid of the Symbiote. He will always be a member of the F4 (or Future Foundation) but he has joined other teams. Alongside his wife, he joined the Avengers for a time, was a founding member of the Illuminati and a member of the Defenders. There was also the whole council of Reeds but lets forget that.
Out of all the F4, Reed is the one who changes his costume the least. This may be due to the fact that his power make his clothes harder to make. He usually keeps the basic version of the F4 costume (which ever version it is.) Thus many ML have been a simplistic Blue costume with interchangeable parts.
Have
Classic

Recommend Figure: Hasbro Walgreens Exclusives Marvel Legends Mr. Fantastic
- Background:
- This is the classic costume that Sue designed way back in 1961. It has gone through some changes, usually with the size of the collar and where the F4 symbol is, but has mainly remain the same basic design.
- Why you need it for your collection?:
- I truly recommend getting the Walgreens version as it work much better then the older ones. Reed is needed for F4, Avengers, Illuminati and other team but was a central character to the Marvel Universe so I say get one if you can.
- Does it need a remake?:
- No, just got remade.
Negative Zone

Recommend Figure: Hasbro Marvel Legends Fantastic Four Retro Wave – Mr. Fantastic
- Background:
- During a extend trip through the Negative Zone, the F4 found that their costume have become negative versions of their classic costume. The Team wore this in the main universe for quite a while before switching their costume to the 90’s look.
- Why you need it for your collection?:
- If you want this version of the F4, then you can get this version. It will also work as a Lab version for the characters, if you want to recreate Reed working in his lab.
- Does it need a remake?:
- No.
Fresh Start

Recommend Figure: Hasbro Marvel Legends Fantastic Four ? Wave Mr. Fantastic
- Background:
- After Marvel cancelled the book to insure there was no advertising for Fox’s second attempt at the team, they relaunched the book in a story called Fresh Start. Reed and Sue returned from their creating new universes, the team got new costumes.
- Why you need it for your collection?:
- If you missed the Walgreen version and need a Mr. Fantastic, then I recommend this version. It is works for more of a Modern version of the team and is more uniformed then Walgreens one.
- Does it need a remake?:
- No.
