The only female Scientist Supreme of AIM so far. Introduced in Amazing Fantasy (Vol. 2) #7 (2005) by Fred Van Lente and Leonard Kirk, Monica Rappacini was a promising biochemist studying in the University of Padua when she heard of the genius Bruce Banner. She went to New Mexico to meet him and they began a relationship so she could steal as many secrets as she could. This may have resulted in the conception of their daughter Carmilla Black, but whether she is really Bruce’s daughter has never been confirmed. None the else, Monica would win the Nobel Peace prize for Biochemistry.

However, she would become disillusioned with the west and instead of saving people, began working with AIM to develop poisons, implanting them in many children including her own daughter, Carmilla, who she had given up for adoption. Instead of working for like Monica wanted, Carmilla began working for SHIELD as the new Scorpion. (Gargan was Venom at the time.) When MODOK killed a Scientist Supreme of AIM, Monica took the position and broke away from MODOK’s leadership. She made several attempts at trying to wrench control of AIM from MODOK’s leadership only to be stopped by her daughter and other heroes. She would later infiltrate the MODOK 11 under the guise of Chameleon. When the team stole the superweapon Hypernova, which could destroy all life on Earth, she offered MODOK one billions dollars for it, which he agreed. This was because the device was unstable, exploding in the AIM base and killing all but Monica.

She would later try to hire Mockingbird into kidnapping several scientist in Aljaferia but this was thwarted by Mockingbird herself and Ronin (Barton). She would later hire Deadpool to steal a number of MODOK clones from HAMMER, only for her to later be recruited by Norman Osborn, who had broken out of prison and was trying to paint the Avengers as villain who had illegally sent him to prison. She would turn him into another Super-Adaptoid but he was defeated by the Avengers. When Sunspot bought AIM, he hired her to try and clean up AIM, ridding it of evil scientist. She of course betrayed him, joining with Andrew Forson. They were defeated and fled the scene swearing revenge. She would later join up with Osborn’s JANUS organization.

Possible Figures

  • Which has the best chance of being made? -Monica has only really worn one costume in her appearances, with it been drawn differently by different artists.
  • How can it be made? – This one would require the standard female mold with new forearms, upper torso and a skirt piece. I can see this being slotted into an Avengers set, given that she is mainly an AIM member. If not then an AIM set like they did with the SHIELD set or as a AIM and Hydra set.

Teams:

  • AIM
  • JANUS
  • MODOK’s 11
  • HAMMER
