While Loki may be Thor arch-foe, Enchantress being a romantic villain and the Frost Giants being rampaging brutes, none of them hold a candle to the cruelty of Malekith the Accursed. Created by Walter Simpson and first appearing in Thor #344, Malekith first appeared when it was revealed that he had taken disguise as Balder the Brave. The ruler of the Dark Elves, Malekith would go onto becoming one of Thor’s most frequent villain.

Malekith was the villain behind the Casket of Ancient Winters arc. He was eventually dethroned but small cult helped him escaped where he went onto slaughter the Dark Elves that didn’t obey him. He eventually married the Light Elves queen, who he had Enchantress mind-control  her, in an effort to sell Roxxon Oil’s the mining right to the different realms.

Malekith really hasn’t ever had many different costumes. Like many villains, he has the same basic design with many artists taking a different version of it.

  • Background:
    • Malekith as he appears most often
  • Why you need it for your collection?:
    • While nowhere near the status of Loki, Malekith is one of Thor’s major villains, so it would be worth trying to get this if you can. If you have the SDCC one then the retail store one can be skipped. However if you don’t, then get that one. The only real difference is the paint, the SDCC one being a more modern paint job while the retail one being a more classic version.
  • Does it need a remake?:
    • No.
