This guy is the reason the Vault has the special Guardsmen armor. Introduced in Iron Man #82 (1976) by Len Wein and Herb Trimpe, this former NYCC cop believed that his brother, the original Guardsman, was killed by Iron Man and believed that Stark was covering up his death. He would harass Stark and would hire people to investigate his brother’s death. Frustrated that he couldn’t prove it, he would eventually find and upgrade his brother’s Guardsman armor, using the suit in a series of attacks against Iron Man. However, the suit had warped him mind, driving him crazy. Iron Man fought and saved him and proves his innocents to Michael.

After witnessing Stark use his Guardsman armor to battle Sunfire and protect civilians, Michael decided he was wrong about Stark and began working with Iron Man. He would leave the Police force and became the head of security of Project PEGASUS. He would eventually begin working for the prison know as the Vault and would allow the prison to copy and manufacture his Guardsman armor, leading to the prison guards donning the suits themselves. He would later join War Machine and others to fight Ultimo by donning the Silver Centurion armor. He was later hired by Cap to be one of the Avengers support team.

Many people have been asking for the Vaults Guardsmen for many years, many not realizing that there was people who wore the costume as an individual hero before. Either way, they would finally receive a figure in the Iron man Ursa Major wave.
