Created Chris Claremont and Jim Lee, the rogue known as Gambit first appeared in X-men Uncanny X-men #266 (1990), where he happens upon a powerless and de-aged Storm, who he helped her return to the X-men and and returning to being an adult. She recommended him for membership in the X-men but the team questioned his honesty. The man was shrouded in mystery which they later learnt about. He was a member of the New Orleans thieves guild as well as being the one who gathered the Marauders to cause the Morlocks Massacre, an event which to this day still traumatizes him.
Despite this, Gambit has proved a loyal member of the X-men and has a on/off again relationship with Rogue. While mainly sticking with the X-men and the Thieves Guild, he has joined other X-teams, like X-factor. He was also once a member of the Horsemen of Apocalypse and the Brotherhood.
Figure wise, despite being that he is one of the most popular character, it is surprising who very little figures over the years he actually had, 2 in the ML line (both are which are the same figure with different jackets) and 2 in the X-men Classic line. Hasbro will release a new version though, based on his classic costume.
First Appearance / Classic

Recommend Figure: Hasbro Marvel Legends X-men Caliban Wave Gambit OR Target Exclusive Marvel Legends X-men Vintage – Gambit
- Background:
- This is Gambit’s most famous costume that he has worn most over the years and which all over costumes are based on as well as being his first Appearance. It is also the costume he wore in the 90’s cartoon.
- Why you need it for your collection?:
- It is essential for the Jim Lee’s X-men and is the Gambit you should get if don’t have a Gambit figure. As for which one to get, it’s up to you as both are fairly accurate to the comics. It all about whether you want his hair spikey or flat.
- Does it need a remake?:
- Just got remade so no.
Training Suit

Recommend Figure: Hasbro Marvel Legends X-men 60th Anniversary Box set – Gambit with Banshee and Psylocke
- Background:
- After the X-Tinction Agenda, the team began wearing the standard training uniform of the X-men. Gambit would start out wearing this without his jacket until a few issues later, he would get his signature jackat.
- Why do you need it for your collection?
- If you want to complete the Uncanny X-men #275 cover like Hasbro is doing, you will need this. it is also needed for a Gambit or general X-men collection.
- Does it need a remake?
- No.
X-Treme X-men

Recommend Figure: Toybiz X-men Classic Gambit
- Background:
- Around the time Storm took a group of X-men and started searching for Destiny’s Diaries (Irene Alders) and after the death of Colossus, Gambit had left the team. He eventually was seen doing his thieving in this costume and eventually joined up with the X-Treme X-men.
- Why you need it for your collection?:
- Unless you have to have every Gambit, then this can be skipped as it is extremely rare and the costume, as well the figure, are out of date.
- Does it need a remake?:
- No. Short lived and forgotten.
X-treme Sanction Excutive

Recommend Figure: Toybiz X-men Series 1 Gambit
- Background:
- I’m actually not sure of the storyline for this costume. It was seen in the Official Handbook and on a number of covers but I can’t find the story behind this.
- Why you need it for your collection?:
- This is a slightly easier to find repaint of the one above but no there is no need to find this unless you have to have every Gambit.
- Does it need a remake?:
- No. Forgotten costume.
