He feeds on fear and despair. Introduced in Marvel Team-Up #68 (1978) by Chris Claremont and John Byrne, the being that would become known as D’Spayre was created by the Dweller in Darkness gathered the fear and terror from the sinking of Atlantis and Lemuria. He would become one of the Fear Lords and would rule over one of the Splinter Realm. He first encountered the Marvel Heroes when he captured sorceress Jennifer Kale, the cousin of the Ghost Rider brothers and close friend to Man-Thing, and the spirit of her dead master, Dakimh. He brought them to a tower in the Nexus of All-Realities and tried to use them to gather the energy for himself. Spider-man and Man-Thing would team up to defeat him.

Since then, tried to use his powers to not only feed on human’s despair but also to learn more about humanity. He once tried to convince his other Fear Lords to attack Earth and would later be attack by Juggernaut, who was under orders from D’Spayre’s sister, Spite. The Fear Lords would gather again to discuss what to do about the Serpents plan to conquer Earth. They would be gathered again by Kid Loki, when Nightmare would use the Serpent’s invasion to create a crown made of the human fear. This would come under the control of Mephisto and the Fear Lords became his minion until Kid Loki died later.

D’Spayre is one of those character that alot of people haven’t really heard of let alone thinking that he would be given a figure in Marvel Legends. However, he was given a figure as part of the Dr. Strange and the Multiverse of Madness wave.

Classic

Recommend Figure:  Hasbro Marvel Legends Dr. Strange and the Multiverse of Madness Rintrah wave – D’Spayre

  • Background:
    • This is D’Spayre as he usually appears. Like all Classic versions, this has been drawn and colored different by different artists.
  •  Why you need it for your collection?:
    • One of the more obscure characters, this is not one many people would want. It can be used as part of Dr. Strange’s rogue’s gallery being part of the mystic side of the Marvel Universe. It can also be part of Spider-man or Man-Thing’s rogues gallery.
  • Does it need a remake?:
    • No.
