It’s surprising he isn’t sponsored by a shampoo company. Introduced in Incredible Hulk #141 (1971) by Roy Thomas and Herb Trimpe, the psychologist Dr. Samson approached General Ross after Betty Ross was turned to crystal during an encounter with Sandman (T’was the 70s). He has a device that could siphon off the gamma radiation from the Hulk and cured Betty. The Hulk was cured but the excess gamma radiation in the device made Samson curious of what would happen if he gained Gamma powers. He used the device on myself transforming himself into the green haired superhuman. He also began romancing Betty which caused Banner to break emotionally and transforming himself back into the Hulk. The two would fight but Samson lost.
Afterward, taking the name Doc Samson, he would both make it his mission to help cure the Hulk. This eventually use hypnosis to have a psychology session with Banner, Hulk and Grey Hulk. He diagnosed Banner with Multi-Personality Disorder that brought about father Banner witnesses his father kill his mother. Samson helped Banner merge his personalities together into one being known as Smart Hulk. Samson would then become the authority on Superhuman Psychology, helping many heroes including the Thunderbolt’s Penance who was secretly Speedball suffering from guilt after the Stamford explosion. He would later be given a darker personality by MODOK as part of their plan with Intelligencia to use him against the Hulks. He was eventually killed trying to help contain the Hulked out heroes. Like all gamma humans, he would eventually return to life. He became part of Gamma Flight to help hunted down and later aid the Immortal Hulk against Shadow Base. He was later killed but had to resurrect him soul into the body of Walter Langkowski, the Sasquatch. This transformed the Sasquatch body into a green version of him, which was dubbed Doc Sasquatch.
Samson is a supporting character that many Hulk fans want a figure for, having appeared not only in the comic but also in most cartoons as well as live action (Betty’s boyfriend in Incredible Hulk). However he as already received one ML so far as part of the Fin Fang Foom wave.
Classic

Recommend Figure: Hasbro Marvel Legends Hulk Fin Fang Foom wave – Doc Samson
- Background:
- Samson never set out to be a hero. But in the 70’s, if you had powers you have to have a costume. This is his first and most famous costume which he would always return to. You know the story, Different Artists, Different styles.
- Why you need it for your collection?:
- If you are a Hulk fan, you will need this as part of your supporting characters. Other then that, he is not really needed for anything else. He is a Hulk character, through and through.
- Does it need a remake?:
- While the figure still holds up today, it does need an update on a bigger body (Hercules maybe?)
Needs
Below you will find a gallery of suits that still need to be made. I have included what I think are the possibilities of them being made. Note that these are my personal opinions and not facts. Please let me know if I have missed anything.
