She gives a whole new meaning to American Samurai. Introduced in Marvel Premiere #19 (1974) by Doug Moench, Larry Hama and Neal Adams, Colleen is the daughter of Iron Fist ally Prof. Lee Wing and Azumi Ozawa, the daughter of Japan special servant, Kenji Ozawa. After her mother was apparent killed, Kenji took Colleen to live with him in the Northern Honshu region of Japan. There, he trained her in the way of the samurai. However, Kenji was killed by crime lord Emil Vochon, who fled to the states. Colleen went to New York to live with her father and get revenge for her grandfather. While caught in a shoutout, she was rescued by Misty Knight. The pair would become best of friends, as close as sister. They would set up a detective agency, known as Nightwing Restorations Ltd and would be dubbed the Daughters of the Dragon.
The pair would later continually team up with Iron Fist, and later his partner Luke Cage, then Power Man, who were the Heroes for Hire. After briefly dating Scott Summers, she would work together with the HFH on many missions, beating many villains. This would continue during the Oracle Inc part of the team. She would later reformed the Daughters as bail bondsmen, hunting down any that would try to flee and handing them over to the authorities. It was during this time when she help take down Celia Ricadonna, a wealthy New York publishing magnate and crime lord. When Iron Man asked Misty to reform the Heroes for Hire during the Civil War, Colleen also joined her, though reluctant as they were tasked with hunting down unregistered superhumans. But Misty made it clear they would only hunt down criminals and not heroes, something that Iron Fist and Luke Cage did not approve of. She would later be contacted by Worldmind, a wielder of the Mind Stone, but he was killed by Thanos. Colleen snatched the Mind Stone, becoming it’s new weilder.
Possible Figures
- Which has the best chance of being made? – Let’s be honest. There is only one version of Colleen we all want and that is one of her white body suits. Those are her signature look and it’s the one that many customizers make. Now if they wanted to had some details like the red line or the wing deco on her shoulder blades, that would be fine but as long as it’s primarily white.
- How can it be made? – This one actually has the perfect body for her and that is the Black Widow / Sharon Carter mold. A quick repaint, new hands, head and shoes and your done. It is surprising they haven’t done it already. While this can easily be slotted into a Spider-man, Marvel Knights or random BAF wave, what many people really want is that she would come in a 2-pack with an updated Misty Knight, similar to how Luke and Danny were in a two pack.
