Most villains in Marvel have a moral code that they would never cross. Cletus Kasady has no such moral code. Introduced in Amazing Spider-Man #344 (1991) by David Michelinie and Erik Larsen, Cletus Kasady was already serving several life sentences for a large number of murders. He was sharing a cell with Eddy Brock when the Venom symbiote broke him out of prison. However, the Symbiote had given “birth” to another symbiote which quickly bonded with Kasady. Kasady accepted the symbiote so much, he started referring to themselves as one person, using “I” instead of “We” that Venom uses. Kasady broke out of prison and began a murder spree leaving behind the message “Carnage Rules”. Spider-man tracked him down and was beaten. It took Spidey to team up with his old enemy Venom and the Fantastic Four to defeat this psycho.
Carnage eventually escape Ravencroft and began recruiting other cell mates and villains like Shriek, Doppelganger, Carrion and Demogoblin in order to form his family and take over New York. It took a load of heroes led by Spidey in order to defeat them. After Venom reabsorbed the Carnage Symbiote, Kasady began painting himself in red but was captured by Spidey and gained another Carnage symbiote (though this has been retconned as the same symbiote). Carnage even gave birth to his own child and teamed up with Venom to kill it but was defeated by Spidey, Black Cat and his son Toxin. While in prison on the Raft, he was seemly killed when the Sentry took him to outer space and ripped him in two.
They of course survived, with Kasady losing his legs and crashed into the Earth, where Michael Hall forcefully separated the 2. He used the symbiote to create prosthetic limbs, one of which he attached to Dr. Tanis Nieves after she lost her arm in an attack by Doppelganger. However, the symbiote in her arm forced her to have Kasady escape and he became Carnage once more. He absorbed all the pieces that Hall had created and battle Spidey and Iron Man and gained a new daughter in Scorn. Kasady escaped and journeyed to the small town Doverton, where he used the symbiote to take over the town and turned some people into Carnage-like slaves. When the Avengers and other heroes attacked, he turned them into his slave leaving only Spidey left who gained aid from the Mercury team, a SEAL like team who used the Life Foundation symbiotes, Scorn and Agent Venom. He was defeat and taken to Thunderbolt Mountain but eventually tried to escape only to be defeated by Agent Venom and Scarlet Spider. He would continue to be one of Marvel greatest treats even gain more powers with the Darkhold.
Carnage is a popular character in the Spider-man franchise, thus has gotten a few figures over the years, usually a repaint of an older figure. TB released one the their Spider-man Classic’s line (a few times) which was re-released in the Fearsome Foes box set. Hasbro re-release it again in their version of Classic line. Hasbro then did their own figure in their launch of the Spider-man sub-line of Marvel Legend and released an even better version in the Venom wave.

Recommend Figure: Hasbro Marvel Legends Venom Monster Venom Wave – Carnage
- Background:
- Carnage is pretty much more powerful the Venom. He use the Symbiote to create bladed like a scythe or claws. He also gain the ability to control other by covering them in a piece of the Carnage Symbiote.
- Why you need it for your collection?:
- While not essential, this is a nice addition to any Spider-man villain collection. It will be nice to have in a Venom-verse collection as well as some other heroes rogue galleries. While the TB version or the Ultimate Green Goblin wave ones are extremely nice, I recommend getting the Monster Venom wave version, even if you have the older Hasbro version, as it comes with interchangeable parts and a fantastic looking unmasked head.
- Does it need a remake?:
- No.
Absolute Carnage

Recommend Figure: Hasbro Marvel Legends Venom Venompool wave – Carnage (Swappable Head)
- Background:
- Knull, the God and creator of the Symbiotes, sent Grendel to find a person to prepare for his invasion. It choose Casady and Casady eventually started hunt the codex from every person who wore a symbiote. At first he started looking like this with just the Knull symbol on his head but as he started gathering more Codex, he transformed into the skeleton frame he ended up as.
- Why you need it for your collection?:
- If you are a fan of the Absolute Carnage, then you can get this. However, I would recommend getting it for your classic Carnage.
- Does it need a remake?:
- No. Many people and I want the later version instead.
