Introduced in Micronauts #2 (1978) by Bill Mantlo and Michael Golden, Steve Coffin is the son of Ray Coffin, the original Captain Universe, and was the second human to become Captain Universe, which he used to stop Mister E. In the years since losing The Uni-Power, Steven has become obsessed with regaining it by any means possible.

He would receive a figure as a swappable head with Cosmic Spider-man of the Spider-man: Homecoming wave.
