Captain America (Ultimate)

AKA; Test Subject 55, Cap, The Captain, The Patron Saint of Omaha Beach, The Backbone of the Battle of Normandy, Black Panther, Blue Man, President Cap

He’s famous for insulting the French. Introduced in Ultimates #1 (2002) by Mark Millar and Bryan Hitch, the Ultimate universe Cap origin are pretty much the same as his Prime counterpart with a few differences. During a WWII mission, he happened upon the alien race the Chitauri, who were trying to launch a bomb at Washington. He jumped on the missile and made it explode before it could reach America. He was then thrown into the artic ocean, where he was frozen for over 50 years. He was eventually found by SHIELD and was revived but thinking this was a Nazi prison he attacked the doctors and tried to escape, only to find that he had arrived in New York.

Cap found that most of the people he knew were either dead or old. With nowhere else to go, he joined and lead the Ultimates, this universes version of the Avengers and fought not only the Chitauri but also the Hulk.. He even began a relationship with Wasp after she broke up with her abusive husband Hank Pym but they eventually broke up due to a generation gap. When the Ultimates fought the X-men after learning that Professor X had hid Magneto, Cap fought his old friend Wolverine, using a machine gun against the mutant. He also helped Spider-man to escape from the Ultimate Six.

He was later framed by the traitor Black Widow, but eventually led the team against the Liberators. Because of this, the team decided to leave SHIELD and become an independent team. After helping Black Panther, he took the role of Black Panther but return to the role of Cap during the Ultimatum. He then fought Red Skull, who turned out to be his own grown up son. He helped form a new Ultimates and help take down a Korean attempt to mass produced super-soldiers. After resigning as Cap and returning he was elected President of the United States. After the universe was destroyed during the Incursion and was eventually resurrected, he was later seen as a member of the Ultimates.

Out of all the Ultimate Universe characters, Cap has had the most figures. Toybiz did a figure in their Series 8 of Marvel Legends. When Hasbro took over the licence and after they moved the line to 2-packs only for a while before they put the line on hiatus, they released a WWII figure with Ultimate Nick Fury. After they relaunched the line into the Infinity series, they released an updated version in the Hit-Monkey wave and again in a box set with Ms Marvel (Danver) and Radioactive Man as a Target exclusive. Finally, they decided to release an updated WWII version as part of the Riders line.

Have

World War II

Recommend Figure: Hasbro Marvel Legends Ultimate Riders wave 4 Ultimate Captain America.

  • Background:
    • Unlike the Prime version, where his costume is basically his WWII costumes, in the Ultimate universe his WWII was very different to this normal costume. It was basically an army uniform done in Cap’s colors. It should also be noted that his shield was triangular during the war.
  • Why you need it for your collection?:
    • While this design has become a fan favourite design (which inspired the movie version), it is not something I could recommend most people to get. Only get this if you are a Cap fan or want to build the Ultimate Universe.
  • Does it need a remake?:
    • No.

Ultimates

Recommend Figure: Hasbro Marvel Legends Hit Monkey wave Wave Ultimate Captain America OR Target Exclusive Collector Edition Captain America with Ms Marvel and Radioactive Man

  • Background:
    • Soon after he was revived and asked to lead the Ultimates, he was given a new updated costume that was similar to this prime universe version. This has been drawn differently over the years, including adding jackets and straps.
  • Why you need it for your collection?:
    • If you are building the Ultimates or want to have a Ultimate Cap, then you HAVE to have this. It can also be collected for Cap fans.
  • Does it need a remake?:
    • No.

Below you will find a gallery of suits that still need to be made. I have included what I think are the possibilities of them being made. Note that these are my personal opinions and not fact. Please let me know if I have missed anything.
