After Peter revealed his identity to the world and had to go into hiding, Mr. Hyde began a experiment to see what would happen if other people were given Spider-powers. Introduced Sensational Spider-Man (Vol. 2) #36 (2007) by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and Ramon Bachs, each one of his test subject were given a formula similar to the lizard formula that turned Curt Connors into the lizard, except with arachnid dna instead. Each one was given a particular costumes that Spider-man (or Ben Reilly) wore or in the case of a few of them, given extra powers like Spider-hulk. But it soon turned out that they would eventually turn into Man-Spiders so the real Spider-man gathered them up and had Connors cure them, and ridding them of their powers.
