Ideal Wave – Spider-man Version 3

Hi gang. It’s been a while since I did an Ideal wave so with Toyfair happening in a few weeks, I thought I would do one. So over on the Facebook page, I posted a poll asking who you would want me to base the wave on. Iron Man, losing to Hulk the last time, returns and faced off against Spider-man. You guys voted and it was extremely close. Litterally only 2 votes between them. However, the Webbed Wonder won the vote. Iron Man goes onto the next poll. Who he face?

Anyway onto Spidey. Since the last time I did a Spidey wave 4 major things happened, Spidey lost his creators, the PS4 Spider-man game was released to huge praise, The “Far from home” trailer launced and Marvel celebrates it’s 80th birthday. Each of these had a huge impact on my making this wave. I tried to balance it better then the Kingpin wave but with Hasbro basically giving us most of Spidey’s classic villains this wasn’t easy. I also thought to give another member of a certain team a go since he would be easy to make. If you don’t see characters that should be here, check out Version 1, 2 and the Venom wave

As always the rules:

  • 6-8 figures per wave. No more. No less.
  • Some version of the Title hero most be in it.
  • 1 or 2 Female per wave.
  • 1 or 2 Villains per wave, but these could be female as well.
  • 1 or 2 brand new characters that has never been done before
  • 1 or 2 remakes. The Remakes can also be new costumes as Like Classic Spider-man or Iron Spider.
  • Each wave most have a Theme ie Spider-man can include Street Level heroes or Iron Man can include Tech Heroes and villains.

The Theme for this wave: Street Levels

We start as always with the hero.

01. First Appearance Spider-man

Taking the first spot we have something to celebrate the 80th birthday of Marvel, First Appearance Spider-man. While some may thing there is not much of a difference between this and the Classic but their is slight differences with the color (black instead of blue), the mask and the symbol. I also wanted to include this in memory of not only Stan Lee but also Steve Ditko. While many would think the Pizza mold would work I think the Teenage but would be better, since he was only 16 at the time he was in this suit. A new head and paint would be fine but if they can give us the “web wings” under his arms it would be perfect.

02. Big Time Spider-man

Next we have another Spidey version that was done before but was done badly, Big Time Spidey. With the Far From Home movie using the Spidey Noir design as the stealth suit, it would be perfect to go back to the original stealth look with this figure. Given that it is basically just Peter Parker in a new suit, then the Pizza Spidey would be perfect. While I wouldn’t mind if they just paint it green, given us something like stickers (same design with Green, Blue and Orange colors) so that pick the version of the suit we want would be perfect.

03. Spinneret

Taking one of the 2 female figures in this wave we have Spider-Mom……………..What? She even says it’s accurate. I have to say I really love the “Renew your vows” universe. So much so that I kinda wish they would bring in Anna into the main universe at some point. However, for this wave I pick Mary-Jane’s costume hero, Spinneret. Not only is she a big part of that universe but she also seems to play a major role in the Spider-mageddon storyline, which she appears on the cover. This obviously will use the previous MJ figure with Kate Bishop legs and a new head.

04. Shang-Chi

Next up we have a character that has recently been announce for a Movie adaption, Marvel Best martial Artist. No. Not Iron Fist. Shang-Chi, the Master of Kung-Fu. He is so strong as a martial artist that Iron Fist goes to him for training and advice. I honestly expected Marvel to introduce him into then Iron Fist series but they never did. Why would he in a Spidey wave I hear? Well not only does the Spidey line include street level heroes, like Daredevil and Moon Knight, but Shang-Chi also trained Spidey when both were part of the Avengers. The version I want is the more modern tracksuit version shown above. I think the Spider 2099 mold would work best for this. He should include 2 nuncakus. If Hasbro wants to go the extra mile, one of those could include an spinning effect piece.

05. Screwball

Anyone who has played the PS4 game know how annoying Screwball is in that game. But that has made me want her as an Marvel Legends all the more. Screwball was created as a critic of the Youtube trill seekers. She would pull off stunt and crimes all the while streaming her event on Youtube (or whatever is used in the Marvel Universe.) Being that she is a young character, the teenage female body mold would be perfect for her, with MJ’s purse and a new head and sneakers. If Hasbro want to throw in her Deadpool’s crew Pig-Tail version, it would be perfect.

06. Mister Negative/Inner Demon

The PS4 game not only made Screwball at least known, it made Mister Negative a huge part of the Spider-universe. Created by Dan Slott (who wrote not only the game, but Spider-man for 10 years!), he was a very little known character until this game. The same drugs that made Cloak and Dagger heroes, gave this Chinese immigrant a split personality, one the charitable Martin Lee and the other the Crimelord, Mister Negative, with the power to corrupt people making them evil. Obviously, this will use the suited body, maybe MCU Nick Fury version. However I also think he should come with an Inner Demon head so you can swap head and army build. Granted, Negative wears a white suit and they wear black suit but it’s a good way to get an army build out.

07 Will-O-Wisp

Remember how I said I wanted to add another member to a team. That team is the Outlaws, which we have Spidey, Silver Sable, Prowler, Paladin and Puma. Out of the 2 left, I thought Will-O-The-Wisp would be the easiest to make. This former scientist was once a villain to Spidey before changing into an allie. He has since returned to being a villain. The thing about this character is that when he was introduced, he actually crept out with his appearance and ghost like power. That’s right, readers where scared of him. This would be a very easy repaint of the Spider-UK mold with the Sentry head (shrunken down a small bit.)

BAF: Alistair Smythe

Taking the BAF spot we have a character that has only one objective, to kill Spidey and J. Jonah Jameson. Alistair Smythe’s father was once hired but Jameson to create Spider-Slayer but the constant using of toxic material cause him to die. Alistair blamed Spidey and Jameson for his death. His vengeance was so great he even turned himself into a Spider-Slayer. The one I want is the more modern version, which I find to be a much better version then the 90’s version that was used for the cartoon. While it could just be a regular figure, the design make it unique enough to have his own sculpt. Add in tentacles for the back and it would be perfect.

Well that’s my Third version of an Ideal wave for Spider-man. What do you guys think? Agree or Disagree? Let me know in the comments below and as always let me know what would be your Ideal wave for Spidey.
