This guy once told Jarvis to stay out of his kitchen. Introduced in Strange Tales #110 (1963) by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, Wong is the latest in a long of men that have served the Ancient One, the former Sorcerer Supreme. Since his father was serving the Ancient one at the time, he was sent to New York to serve Dr. Strange, who would later take over the role of Sorcerer Supreme after the death of the Ancient one. Wong would serve Strange for many years, becoming closer than brothers. At some point he was kidnapped by the Shadowqueen and was rescued by Strange.

At some point, he began a friendship with Sara Wolfe, which would have turned romantic if Wong hadn’t turned her down because he was promised to someone else. Topaz and him were kidnapped by the alien sorcerer Urthona who wanted to gain Strange’s power. In the ensuing battle, Wong’s face was mutilated by Urthona but when they returned home, Topaz used her magic to heal him. After the battle, Strange cast a spell to make the world believe he was dead. As Stephen Sanders, he appointed Wong as CEO of Stephen Strange Memorial Metaphysical Institute, an institution for research into the occult. Eventually, Wong’s betrothed, Imei, arrives in New York. When Strange couldn’t help Imei when she was altered by demons, this caused friction between the friends. It was later discovered that this wasn’t really Imei but a demon taking her form that had killed the real Imei. This caused Wong to become mentally unhinged and he began working with Strange’s enemies against him. They later reconciled and grew closer as friends, now considering themselves equals and not Master and Servant.

Wong eventually learnt he had cancer but Strange went on a quest to find a cure for him. He would later, begrudgingly, become the renegade team of New Avengers. After Siege, he was hired by the team to become their new chef. Eventually himself and Strange had a fallen out after learnt Wong has been keeping many secrets from him, in order to protect Strange, including a dark version of Strange’s negative energy that they kept locked in the basement.

Wong is a character that many people have been wanting for a while because he is an essential part of the Dr. Strange mythos. He would receive a figure as part of a 2-pack with Dr. Strange with a Bats pack-in.
