Wait. He only became a villain because he was jealous of the attention the Human Torch was getting? Introduced in Strange Tales #102 (1962) by Stan LeeLarry Lieber and Jack Kirby, Bentley Wittman was a genius, using his inventions to perform magic acts as the Wizard. At some point in his life, he married Salamandra and had a daughter with her, Cole. He abandoned them both when Cole appeared to have no powers. (More on that later). When the F4 appeared and gained more attention than him, particularly the Human Torch, he used his inventions to try and defeat the Torch in public but failed. Wizard would continue to torment the Torch and the F4 and would team up with other villains like Paste Pot Pete to battle other heroes, like Spider-man.

However, his major claim to fame was the formation of the Frightful Four, with Paste Pot Pete, Sandman and Medusa as the evil counterpart to the F4. They actually succeeded a few times in defeating the F4, but their bickering caused them to fail. The Wizard would reform the teams many times switching out members to suit his needs, including his ex-wife and daughter Cole, who had developed gravity powers. Skipping another bit (Because it’s mostly about him constantly seeing defeat) another major team he became part of was the Intelligencia, a group of genius supervillains who want to prove their intelligence was better than others. He was later invited to join a group of villains to develop plans to defeat Reed Richards….by Reed Richards himself. This was done to defeat the Council of Reeds.

Possible Figures

  • Which has the best chance of being made? – I think out of the ones above, the Classic is the one that will most likely get made. The rest of them are possible but it’s the classic version most people are asking for. the only ones that are low or impossible are the original costume or the Carnage version.
  • How can it be made? – For this, if they go with the Classic version all they need is a new torso and the pizza/RYV Spider-man arms. This is most likely to be place in a F4 wave, 2-pack or box set, but if they want they can easily slot him into an Avengers or Spider-man wave.
