He is the reincarnate of one of Scarlet Witch’s “sons”. Introduced in Young Avengers #1 (2005) by Allan Heinberg and Jim Cheung, Billy grew up bullied because of his sexuality but a chance encounter with Scarlet Witch gave him the courage to stand up to the bullies. After the disband of the Avengers following Scarlet Witch’s breakdown, Billy was approached by Iron Lad and was asked to him help stop Kang from taking him to the future. He modelled himself after Thor and began calling himself Asgardians. He also began dating Hulkling soon after. After an encounter with Cap, Iron Man, Kang and a pregnant Jessica Jones, Iron Lad agreed to return to his time. The team was made break up by Cap but would secretly reunited, joined by Cassie Lang (Stature) and Kate Bishop (Hawkeye), who suggested he change his name to Wiccan.

After Hulkling was taken by the Skrulls, the team would search for reinforcements and found Thomas Shepherd (Speed). Upon meeting each other face to face, Wiccan and Thomas realised that they look almost identical. They would rescue Hulkling when Super-Skrull disguised himself as Hulkling and allowed himself to be taken. They would later be arrested during the Civil War but were rescued by Cap’s resistance. After the war, Wiccan and Speed decided to found out about their origins and began searching for the Scarlet Witch, who had disappeared after House of M. They would eventually find her in Latvaria without her memories. They soon learnt the truth about her breakdown. After finding out about her original children’s faith and learning that Agatha Harkness erased her memories, she had approach Doom to increase her powers. This drove her insane leading to her to lashing out at the Avengers. The boys and Wanda would realise that they were the reincarnate of her and Vision’s sons. After the death of Cassie, the team would break up.

Hulkling would propose to Billy and would move in with his family. After an argument with Hulkling, Billy would attempt to bring back his fiancé’s mother but instead summon a parasite being called Mother to Earth. The pair would join a new incarnation of the Young Avengers and would spend some time apart. However, they would reunited and join many young heroes in defeating Mother. It was also revealed that Billy would eventually become the Demiurge, a powerful god that is worshiped my many of Marvel’s pantheons. Afterwards, the couple would join the New Avengers and Billy would join Strikeforce before joining many heroes in the battle against the Cotati. Billy would marry his husband after the battle.

Wiccan has become one of Marvel Premier gay superhero, alongside his now husband, Hulkling. However, he was still relative a brand new character when he, alongside the original members of the Young Avengers, were announced as a box set as part of Toybiz’s Marvel Legends line.

Asgardian

Background:
- When the Young Avengers first appeared, they patterned themselves after the four main Avengers, with Billy becoming Asgardian after Thor. He would soon get a new costume and would become Wiccan soon after (literally 6 issue later)
Why you need it for your collection?:
- This is a figure you will need for your Avengers, Young Avengers and Scarlet Witch collections. However, even when it was released, this set was extremely hard to find and now goes for a minimum of 150. Given the popularity of the characters from the WandaVision series, I would wait for Hasbro to make another figures, though it will more the likely be one of his Wiccan versions.
Does it need a remake?:
- Yes but maybe not this version.
