Hey, Sarcotti! Keep your fetishes in the bedroom. Introduced in Tales of Suspense #97 (1967) by
Stan Lee
and Gene Colan, Marco Scarlotti used his skills with a whip to become an enforcer for the Maggia. He earned a reputation with his colleagues with his frequent fights with Iron Man, so they sent him to go undercover in Stark International’s Cincinnati plant. There he became the head of research and began engaged to Vicky Snow. He would fight Iron Man again and escaped unscathed. He quit his undercover assignment and teamed up with the Melter and Man-Bull to become the Death-Squad. Together they tried to get the Golden Globe of Power from Black Lama. During this, Whiplash was finally defeated by Iron Man. He was taken to prison and his identity was revealed to the world.

The Maggia paid his bail, and he began working with them again before encountering Wraith (DeWolf), which brought him to the brink of insanity. While recovering, he was sent to Rykers Prison to serve his time for the various crimes he committed. He was freed by Justin Hammer and his equipment was given an upgrade. He took the name Blacklash and returned to the Maggia who gave him a new job, but he was defeated by Iron man again. After he lost custody of his son, he went back to being Whiplash and worked for a rival of Tony Stark. He went back to working for Hammer where he battled the Beetle and the Thunderbolts. His next encounter with Iron man, saw the shellhead’s armor gaining Sentient. In his next encounter with Iron Man, the Sentient armor deemed Whiplash as a threat to Stark and killed him.

Whiplash has been a character many Iron Man fans have been asking for a long time. He is one of Iron Man’s classic villains. He would finally receive a figure in the first Iron man retro wave.
