She may have started off as only a support staff member but she soon turned into one hell of a hero. Introduced in X-Men #139 (1979) by Chris Claremont and John Byrne, Heather Hudson met James Hudson while working as a secretary and soon fell in love and was married. She help him convinced the Canadian government to help set up the Flight program. Around this time, the couple encountered a savage Wolverine, who had just escaped from Weapon X. They took him in and Heather helped Logan return to normal. James wanted Wolverine to lead the Flight program but Wolverine attraction to James’ wife caused him to take up Professor X’s offer to join the X-men. They eventually made peace with Wolverine.

She would become a background support member of the Flight program but when her husband was believed killed, she would take over leadership of the Flight. She eventually began wearing a modified version of James’ Guardian suit, taking the name Vindicator. She would go on to lead the Alpha Flight team through many battle and began a relationship with Box and Puck. She would later be reunited with James and they would switch codenames with her being Guardian and him being Vindicator. James would die another few times but they would continue to remain a couple through out it all. She eventually settled on the Vindicator name and would become pregnant and give birth to James’ child.

She was one of the member believed killed by the Collective only to eventually return during the Chaos War. Under the influence of the Master of the World and wanting her daughter back, she betray Alpha and attacked her daughter’s foster parent. She would eventually defeat the Master but went on the run with her daughter. She would eventually be reunited with James who help her overcome what she had done.

Vindicator (or Guardian which ever you want to call her) has been requested for quite a while in Marvel Legends form. She would eventually receive on in the Alpha Flight Box set that was exclusive to Amazon.

  • Background:
    • This is Heather after she had Roger Bochs and Madison Jeffries redesign her now-dead husband’s suit. She took up the name Vindicator. While she would wear other costumes she would return to this design a number of times.
  • Why you need it for your collection?:
    • If you want to build the Alpha Flight team, you will need this. You will also need this for your Wolverine collection on his ally shelf. Also, if you want, you can use her as your Flag wearer for your Patriot collection for Canada (like Cap America and Britain) instead of her husband.
  • Does it need a remake?:
    • No.
