Galactus knows how to pick them. Introduced in Fantastic Four #211 (1979) by Marv Wolfman and John Byrne, Galactus believed that because Surfer was too noble, he needed a herald who would not hesitate to feed him worlds. He found the despot Tyros, who already had the powers to control earth and rocks. Because of this, when the F4 sought his aid against the Sphinx, he made a bargain with them to help him make Tyros his herald. The team beat the despot and Galactus transformed him into Terrax the Tamer. Despite fearing Galactus, Terrax would feed him many planets. He would eventually betray Galactus. Fleeing to Earth, he made Manhattan float in the air and demanded that the F4 defeat Galactus. Galactus would arrive and return Manhattan to the ground before stripping Terrax of his powers and throwing him after the Empire States Building.

He would survive and would eventually be discovered by Dr. Doom, who helped Terrax recover his powers. He went to battle the F4 and defeated them. The Silver Surfer and the two former heralds saved them would battle until Tyros was destroyed by the Power Cosmic. He would be resurrected and eventually taken from Earth by the Surfer. Surfer imprisoned him on Pluraris VI but would seek his aid alongside other Heralds to battle Galactus’ latest herald, Morg. He eventually would help Surfer alongside other heroes to defeat Tyrant. He would come under the mind control of the Annihilation wave and sent to attack the Nova Corps. He would be freed and landed on a planet ruled by Randau the Space Parasite. He would defeat the parasite but after discovering that the planet’s inhabitants like being controlled he destroyed the planet. He conquered the moon of Birj but despite getting a warning from Nova (Alexander), he died when the Phoenix arrived. The Phoenix later resurrected him.

Terrax is one of Galactus most famous Heralds having also appeared in cartoons and games over the years. He would receive a figure as a BAF in the first wave of the Return of Marvel Legends line. This BAF would see a re-release as part of a 2-pack to be released in time for the Galactus Haslab project.
