She went on blaming her father for respecting him. Introduced in Alpha Flight #5 (1983) by John Byrne, Elizabeth is the daughter of Michael, the Alpha Flight member known as Shaman. After her father failed to save her mother using his magic, she blamed him for her death and moved in with the neighbors, the McNeils. She hadn’t spoken to him for fifteen years. However, she sought his aid when an evil spirit escaped from an archaeological dig where she was working. Working together, they discovered that she was the legendary figure known as the Talisman. She joined Alpha Flight, being the second person to join that wasn’t trained by Department H.

She left however, when Shaman had to choose between saving her and his adopted daughter, Snowbird, and save Snowbird instead. She sought revenge against him by summoning spirit to attack him and tried to defeat them herself, but it defeated her. It tore her talisman from her head and Shaman would defeat the spirits and gained the talisman for himself. She went back to university. While at another dig, she was contacted by Snowbird and told that she was the only one that could defeat the Dreamqueen. She returned to Alpha Flight and regained the talisman. She later became brain-dead when she tried to save all of the Master’s victims. Instead, she became a living filter for all the knowledge in Shaman’s Medicine Pouch. She eventually recovered.

She was later attacked by the second team of Omega Flight and realized that something was wrong with her. She contacted her father and realized that the Ska’ar had escaped their prison. With the aid of Beta Flight, she fought against the Ska’ar, Omega Flight and the Master. She joined Beta Flight, receiving formal training and later advancing to Alpha Flight again. When many of Alpha Flight were killed by the Collective and the US enacted the SRA, many powered individuals, both heroes and villains, began across the border into Canada. To combat this, the Canadian government formed a new team called Omega Flight, with Talisman joining the team. Later, when Alpha Flight returned from the dead, it was revealed that she had started a relationship with Puck. She also aided Dr. Strange against the Emprikull.
