This is what would happen if the Avengers were merged. Introduced in Tales of Suspense #82 (1966) by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, the android that would become the Super-Adaptoid was created by AIM using unstable molecules and a piece of the cosmic cube. It was sent to replace Captain America by kidnapping and replacing Jarvis. It attacked Cap but was defeated by the hero and Jarvis. He was placed in the Avengers mansion until the Avengers return. Using his powers, he adapted the team’s powers and transformed into a form that was the combined appearance of the team. He escaped and attacked Cap. He thought he had defeated Cap and returned to his masters.
After a brief battle with the X-men and Mimic, he would return to battle the Avengers a number of times. He was eventually captured and imprisoned by the team but was later activated by the Masters of Evil. The Masters gathered other androids and formed the team Heavy Metal, which they sent to battle the Avengers. An encounter with Kobik caused him to gain Near-Omnipotence but eventually Kobik removed the Cosmic Cube from the android, and he went into hibernation. After being sent by Doom to battle the F4, he would join the New Enforcer and battle Spider-man, who created the Armor MkI to fight them. After another battle with Cap, he would battle the Heroes for Hire.
Damage in the battle with the HFH, he was purchased by Devlin DeAngelo, who forced Bruce Banner to repair him. After fighting the Hulk, he murdered DeAngelo. Sick of humanity, he would travel into space and encounter the Phalanx. He would join the aliens in their invasion of the Kree Empire and would battle Phyla-Vell. Eventually he was cured of the Phalanx virus and returned to Earth, where he would battle the Avengers Unity Squad, where he would copy Deadpool healing factor as well as his cancer. Silk eventually took the android to the Gwen-Verse universe, where that universe’s Reed Richard, who converted the android into an adaptable suit of armor that she used to battle the evil alternate version of herself. He would later join the AI Army and would later be taken in by the Sinster Six, who he copied their powers from.
Super-Adaptoid has been one of those characters that Avengers fans have been asking for a while. He would receive a figure as part of the Avengers: Beyond Earths Mightiest anniversary line as a standalone twelve inch figure.
